May I bring members attention to a planning application submitted to SLDC for a wind turbine (18m, 21m to blade tip). The planning application is SL/2015/0509 and the deadline for comments is 16th July 2015. Although not at all against renewable energy, this turbine would be right at the beginning of the Cumbria Way walk. It would not be appropriate for the area and would be detrimental to the landscape and visual amenity of the area. The pleasure of walking from the Gill in Ulverston to begin a beautiful walk would be blighted by the sight of a large, man made, steel, moving object. There are already too many in South Furness and if this one is given the go ahead, it opens up a precedent for the whole valley to have one at each farm. Not what one wants for the lead in to the LDNP and the Cumbrian Fells. If you feel that you may object to this please contact SLDC planning dept.

To save everyone time tracking it down, you can find full details of the planning application here and, according to the documents there, this the type of turbine being proposed.
