Knees argh!! Coledale might be a bit much...

Hi All,

I was planning to do the Coledale Round late August when the family and I are staying in Braithwaite.

I unfortunately picked up a knee injury a couple of weeks ago. Doctor says its just 'over use' and will be fine in a couple of weeks, but symptoms present like a minor meniscus tear.

I have invested in poles which help. Used them last year doing the Langdale Pikes.

However, the Coledale Round might prove a bit much. How is it on the knees compared to other longer hikes? I did Helvellyn via Striding Edge in spring and wouldnt go near it with this kind of issue.

Any other suggestions from Braithwaite that take in a few Wainwrights that might not finish me off? Going to be highly idssapointed if I cant hike whilst up there.

Fingers crossed its not an issue by then.

Thanks

The Coledale Horseshoe is quite a bit of ascent and descent to do with a potentially dodgy knee I'd not recommend trying it without building up to it. But also tricky to suggest fells which you will be able to do. Force Crag Mine is an interesting place for a stroll, if only to at least get you in amongst the fells.

Otherwise choose something easy from here: Walks near Braithwaite.

Thanks Beth. Will take a look at the Force Crag Mine walk and my other options.
