We've got a couple of bonus walks from Beth and Jessie's last trip. These are short, in fact one's very short indeed, but they're both interesting:
Hawell Memorial
Skiddaw Shepherd's Memorial is a short 1km stroll to the memorial erected to the Hawell family of shepherds who tended their flocks of Herdwick sheep on Skiddaw.
Castlerigg Stone Circle is only a micro-walk but the stone circle is a fascinating thing to visit and wander around and is the nearest thing the Lake District has to Stonehenge. It was constructed as a part of a megalithic tradition that lasted from 3300BC to 900BC, during the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Ages.
WalkLakes recognises that hill walking, or walking in the mountains, is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death.
Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
