Welcome to the Crown & Mitre our 4-Star Inn based near Haweswater in Cumbria. Situated in the beautiful hamlet of Bampton Grange we are an historic free house nestled on the edge of the North Eastern Fells. We are only a 15 minute drive from Junction 39 of the M6 and a 20 minute taxi journey from Penrith Railway Station. p There are several walks directly from the Inn that can be as leisurely or as challenging as you wish. We have amazing wildlife nearby. Watch out for the red squirrels in the church yard opposite and England s only Golden Eagle in nearby Riggindale. We also regularly see red deer on the local fells nearby. Whilst situated in a quiet corner of the Lake District National Park you are never more than a few minutes from the rest of Lakeland giving you the benefit of easy access to attractions with a quiet haven to come home to.

p In our Lake District accommodation we have 8 en-suite bedrooms and a self-catering apartment tastefully furnished and with views of the beautiful surrounding countryside. Our spacious rooms are equipped with flat screen TV tea and coffee facilities are provided as well as plump pillows crisp bed linen and fresh towels. For those of you with children we can provide extra Z-beds and cots and for those of you who are dog-lovers you can bring your dog(s) to stay with you too.

p Many travel extensively to the Crown & Mitre to sample our delicious food fine wines and real ale. Our food is worthy of our 4-star status and affordable too. We have a great chef who sources fresh meat from around Cumbria with fresh fish on the menu every week vegetarian options are also available. Like all good Innkeepers we consider the quality and range of our drinks to be of prime importance. We serve a range of fine wines and ales and the highest quality food made from fresh local ingredients.
