  • "Late September stay, a clean and tidy property, helpful arrive and depature time, with good communication from owner and housekeeper."

Great location, quiet, peaceful with great views. Updating required. We did not use the main living room as TV was not live, only DVD and video's. So we used the hallway area TV, but very small and BBC 1 had message most of the time so could not see 1/4 of the lower screen. Small TV in both areas not great for visually impaired. Not  very comfortable  seating in hall area. The cottage appears to be an inheritance property. This just has feel of owner just about to come home. Some people may like this. Currently no wifi but owner investigating for next season this will help with TV.

  • "Very comfortable stay in quiet location."

Cottage well equipped. Sea view down the valley, plenty of local wildlife immediately around the cottage.

  • "We had a great time in Recroy."

Perfect spot for us nature lovers. The cottage has plenty space and we liked the different possibilities for a sit. The furniture is dated and you feel that in use. The wood stove is cosy but a disaster with the smoke when opening the door. But we enjoyed the stay.

  • "There is no outside furniture or bbq as listed in the description- which was something we used in order to choose our holiday place and so very disappointed!"

The beds need new mattresses and the decoration is in need of repairs. However the scenery is absolutely stunning and the location perfect for a total getaway, so this counteracts some of the above - but being able to sit outside in the garden and enjoy the view would have been nice !!

We loved the decor, the artefacts around ( being an artist myself, it just rang all the right bells for me ) the table tennis…..and generous provision of incidentals…salt, herbs , etc.

  • "We had a wonderful week in this house."

It is located in a very tranquil spot looking out over sea. In. the neighbourhood are plenty of opportunities for hiking and other activities; daytrips to Handa Island, Kylesku boat tours and others. We also visited the Highland gathering in Durness which was great fun. The house is cosy, well equiped and has all facilities which are needed. Definitely recommended!

  • "Great location."

Stunning surrounding area. All the basics that you would need for staying in the property were provided. Would possibly advise people to stock up on food items at a supermarket on the way up to the property as drumbeg store and the spar in lochinver are expensive and basic. I completely understand why drumbeg store needs to be expensive by the way and the fresh fruit and veg are great.

  • "Lovely location and cottage, very private, quiet, with an orchard in the garden."

The property was very clean. However, the bed in the 'double' room is small, so if you are tall, don't expect a good nights sleep. All of the beds are too small for tall people. The 5pm check in and 9am check out is not in the interests of customers. Having to pack up a family, strip beds, wash and tidy up and be out of a self catering cottage by 9am is not an appropriate requirement of customers, in our opinion. Taking 8 hours to turn over a property is much too long, and the check in/out times negatively impacted our holiday experience.

  • "This cottage could do with a lot of TLC and maintenance."

The facilities were there but so many were not working or not working properly. One shower did not work the second shower was either too hot or too cold. There was not enough hot water for a decent bath. The cooker needed a deep clean and the oven was not reaching its correct temperature. The Heating in dining room did not work and has not worked for a number of years. Having said all this the cottage is in beautiful location and we made the most it for our stay.

Very nicely furnished and comfortable, excellent wood burner. Good shower, which which can't be said of all rental properties. All in all a lovely break in a lovely location topped off by very comfortable accommodation.

  • "This was our third stay at Recroy and we have always been very comfortable."

It's a lovely roomy cottage for two and we love the isolated position where the only sounds are the birds and the only visitors are the badgers and the deer (oh and the sheep!). You can walk from the cottage up the hill and around the lochs where you will not see a soul. An ideal spot if you are looking for peace and seclusion.

  • "This property was remote but ideal location for us but the property's description was not as described on the website."

In fact the whole property desperately needed upgrading. 1. The shower over bath u/s and awaiting replacement. The toilet bowl in the bathroom had 2 serious cracks in it . The other shower In shower room only useable with immersion heater on. The hand basin also had a hairline crack from one side to the other. 2. Dining room stove not to be used as it affected immersion heater. Replacement electric heater was provided. 3. Oven did not have grill pan and only one oven shelf so cooking was best done on the hob. It was generally unfit. 4. Free sat to one tv only gave one channel and no signal to tv in Main lounge. Owner obviously relied on folks wanting to view dvd and videos - of which there was many. 5. Bearing in mind remote location the fridge was small and with broken shelf was only just adequate storage for two of us and would prove hard for a family. The freezer part was ok. 6. The tumble dryer lacked a venting kit and was rather noisy. 7. Pictures on Sykes website not up to date. 8. There was no PAT done on any portable equipment eg kettle, toaster, iron etc. Having said all this we thoroughly enjoyed the location and peacefulness, complete with sheep and lamb keeping the grass mowed each day !! Deer on the hillside opposite and birdlife.

Beautiful views all round the cottage . 5 minutes from the well stocked Drumbeg store. Not far from the beautiful Clashnessie beach. The house and kitchen was very well equipped. Great shower in the shower room just have to remember to have the hot water switch on as not a total electric shower. Would and have recommended this property.

  • "This cottage is a most lovely gem!"

Brilliant features like the huge sunroom with table tennis and the cute garden were not even mentioned as features. The house is definitely not for those looking for designer furniture and sipping champaigne in a hot tub. Everything had a lovely touch of well-done (!) DIY and the furniture is a mixture of different multiple sources and ages. We liked the house especially for this wide range of impressions from the 80ies until now. A story-telling, welcoming, warm and cozy house amidst purest and finest nature - we will definitely return! 11/10 stars!

I was very tired when I got there but was it worth it? You bet. A real get away from it all relaxing place. I loved the cottage. It had everything I needed. I never could get the TV to work but the DVDs player was well used. I saw lots of films and really didn't miss live TVs.

  • "Heating was inadequate, electric radiators far too small for the rooms and no heat at all in the "nice" shower room."

The stove in the lounge is good but very little coal was left. The stove in the dining room has a not saying it can mess up the immersion heater if used (so we preferred to have hot water!). There were a few very cold nights so the heating was important. The kitchen is a relic from the 1960s with no cupboards, all cookware out on a single large shelf. No cupboard for food, not even a bread bin. Given the remote location it was important for us to be able to store food hygienically. Some of the cookware was truly disgusting. There was no DVD player as stated only VHS. The television was minute and balanced on a heater. There was no garden furniture as stated.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the comfort of the surroundings. I fear this peace may become slightly eroded in time owing to its proximity to the recently created NC500 tourist circuit route.
