  • "A lovely farmhouse that we would use again."

Very cosy and clean with everything we needed. We had a lovely family Christmas there with a beautiful tree and decorations provided by the owner. The surrounding countryside which we already knew well is absolutely stunning. We would recommend this property to anyone wishing to experience the best of Scottish hospitality.

We were just missing a few basics in the kitchen such as tea, sugar, oil etc.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are so sorry about the missing basics! We do usually have a stock in the kitchen pantry. Sounds like you had a great stay nonetheless. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Our stay at Rottal Farmhouse was amazing."

A wonderful basket of treats and a bunch of flowers welcomed us to the property. The house was always cosy thanks to the continuously running Aga, which was great for cooking too. The beds were so comfy that I am planning to buy the same for my home. Location is private and peaceful with many walks with the dog on the doorstep. Local makers market was a surprise bonus. Recommend the cottage for all.

  • "Everything was as described and clean and comfortable."

The AGA made the kitchen very cosy, but we would have appreciated some instructions on cooking with the AGA. There was a lovely welcome pack and 2 pints of milk supplied, and plenty dishwasher tablets. It was well equipped generally. It is quite remote, but amongst stunning countryside. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Thank you for your comments. We have ordered an Aga guide on reading your feedback. Apologies if you had any difficulties with the Aga. Property Owner

Very comfortable house with all the facilities you require with plenty of space for evenings in,dining, cooking and space for all your boots/wellies/coats etc. Large enclosed garden with great views of the Glen and beyond. The Estate workers are very friendly and Louise is always on hand if any problems arise, but also leaves you alone to enjoy your stay. The welcome pack of local Beer,Gin,cake, chocolates and candles was much appreciated. There is no issue of being cold in the evenings with 2 log burners,Aga and very efficient heating as well of plenty of hot water. The estate is making great efforts with environmental issues which is good to see.

  • "Really enjoyed a family holiday for my 60th in this farmhouse of really good character."

Very nice welcome pack and a warm welcome (literally) as we walked into the kitchen with its superb AGA cooker. Very hot, controllable radiators and spacious rooms (all of them) made it a good relaxing break. We really liked the fact that this house is on a wealthy estate. A short drive up the valley provides a variety of walks in stunning scenery, including the 2 Munro's, Driesh and Mayar. Thank you all, especially Louise.

Thank you for these lovely comments Kevin and for bringing the sunshine with you! Hope to see you again.... maybe for your 70th! Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Rottal Farmhouse."

The Farmhouse is spacious and therefore provides plenty of room for the numbers it can sleep (max 8). The location is amazing (middle of nowhere) with stunning views all around. Walks are plentiful and the enclosed garden to allow our dog to run free was an enormous bonus. The kitchen was stocked and a great size but didn’t have enough utensils (e.g pint glasses, drinking glasses) for the number of guests staying. The boot room for boots and coats and the utility room for our dog were really helpful and helped to keep the main house less cluttered. The bedrooms were of generous proportions with plenty of storage and the beds were very cosy - we all slept soundly every night. The ensuite to one of the bedrooms upstairs had a super shower but no storage / shelf for bathroom items (eg toothpaste, toothbrushes) so nothing could be unpacked properly. The main bathroom was tired and the shower head wasn’t working well (kept falling off and spraying water everywhere). Everyday we had ample hot water and the log burners were a real treat on the odd day we needed to light them. Overall we had an excellent stay at Rottal Farmhouse and LOVED our week near Glen Clova - a magical part of Scotland. We will definitely return in the future as there is so much more to explore.

  • "This is the email I sent to the Rottal Estate, who I believe forwarded it to yourself."

I am writing to inform you of my dissatisfaction with the cleanliness/hygiene of our seven day stay at the Rottal Farm House from the 30th July to 6th August. Although there were a number of positives about our stay, there is a number of issues I would like to bring to your attention.  Firstly, the house was not ready for our arrival. Secondly, there were a number of issues with the cleanliness/hygiene of the house, which I brought to your attention during our stay and now listing them below. Urine stains on toilets. Dirty doors, door handles, light switches and banister. Cob webs and dead insects throughout the house. Remnants of the previous guests, for example, confetti behind couch, used matches in bedside cabinet, handcream under bed, skittles under bed, tic tacs under rug in living room. Black mould on ceiling in ensuite. Dead insects in extractor fan in bathroom. Unpleasant smell in bedroom and dining room. Dust in dining room. I feel that because of the above issues, the current covid climate and we paid a substantial amount of money for our stay, I am entitled to some kind of refund. I look forward to hearing from you about the resolution of this matter. Yours sincerely  Deborah Barrowman

The farmhouse was comfortable and we totally enjoyed our stay. Only one slight thing was cleanliness in bathroom which wasn’t quite clean in the bath, apart from that the rest was good and even with that it wouldn’t stop me recommending it to family and friends.Brilliant for taking your dog, very quiet location, not many people or cars, great walking in and around wonderful scenery all from a lovely comfortable house.

  • "We have all really enjoyed staying at Rottal Farmhouse over the last week, the house had everything we could possibly need!"

The views from the house across and along Glen Clova were definitely a highlight, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility that the Glen has to offer. The property has an enclosed garden allowing for our dogs to be safely let off their leads. It was also a good location for us to visit other properties and castles in the surrounding area allowing for plenty of good dog walks and a chance to experience the beauty of the magnificent countryside. We highly recommend Rottal to anyone and plan to return ourselves next year.

The house is beautifully furnished and decorated with different animal themes in each bedroom. It is very well kitted out and we enjoyed cooking most of our meals in the Aga and eating them in the dining room. House is also in range for supermarket home delivery. Lovely views from the house across the glen at the front and of the hills\mountains from the back. We enjoyed days out walking up Driesh\Mayar, fishing up at Loch Wharral and cycling around the loop of road between Gella bridge and Clova. Also had a meal out one evening at Glen Clova Hotel. Would thoroughly recommend a holiday in this lovely hideaway.

The property is large and well suited for a large family who wants to spread out. The enclosed garden was great for our dog as well. Nice touches like candles and a welcome cake. The beds are super comfy and having a wood burner in the lounge was a bonus, even in July! The cottage is remote, but it is ideal for getting away from it all. We recommend the walks at Glen Doll, although the car park can get busy so get there early! The Glen Cova Hotel was just open after lockdown and we had a decent meal there.
