Peter met us when we arrived to hand keys over and gave lots of helpful advice on the cottage and the area. There was a generous welcome hamper. Thanks! Great local walks, and loads of day trips within 1 hour’s travel. Hot tub is a great feature for kids, or for adults if they can get in before the kids! Co-op in Middleton stays open until 10pm. Areas for improvement? We struggled a bit with the cooker : just a single oven and seemed to take for ever to heat up. But we were a large group of 6 adults, 3 kids, plus a baby. Also it rained every day and we felt there was a shortage of drying facilities - perhaps we should have been less reluctant to put the heating on!. But overall, a great holiday.

Was nice and big for all of us to stay in. Lots of stairs but we got our steps in. Used the tub a few times was nice to sit there. It rained most the time but that didn’t bother us. We sat in the tub listening to the rain. It was great that both waterfalls Low force and High force very close near by. Lots of walks to be had. It’s also nice and dark so you can see the stars when we did have the odd clear night. I would go back again. Loved the area. And the owner was great. He showed me round and was a funny guy. • "I've booked with Sykes for over a decade and will not be booking again due to the totally inadequate service in the run up to my holiday this time."

No replies to messages, couldn't get through on the phone after hanging on for hours on end and the website didn't provide any useful information to help with my queries. I totally appreciate that Covid 19 is unprecedented, but when you're due to pay for a holiday and have questions, it isn't acceptable that they aren't responded to within a reasonable time and after many weeks. Feel totally let down as a customer. As for the accommodation - we rec'd lots of information in advance around what would be different, none of which was (eg removal of cushions, teatowels, take own handwash etc - didn't apply). The cottage was OK/scenery lovely & beds/bedding good. Lack of crockery meant we had to wash up after every small meal or drink to be ready for the next...no pasta or soup bowls and 1 of everything else, even mugs etc - per person and just one large plate & 1 side plate which wasn't really enough. Hot tub was OK but jets didn't really do much/not as good an experience as we'd usually expect. Overall OK but not great.

Thank you for your feedback and I apologise if our service has not been as good as it normally is during the ever changing situation of the pandemic. We kept all guest up to date with changes where their bookings were affected but as your dates were for August normal terms and conditions applied. The owner has said that he would happily have assisted you during your stay if he had known there were a couple of issues. The owner always gets fabulous feedback from guests and is sorry that you were disappointed on this occasion. Property Owner

Peter was very helpful and offered good advice about the area and the many walks to be enjoyed. We'll definitely be back. The only slight negative is that we had 8 adults staying and the leisure/lounge areas were a little limited for the full compliment. The Summer Room is fab with the Hot Tub but could do with another additional settee, 3 seater. But all in all we had a really enjoyable time, thanks Peter. PS the Crown in Mickleton does a wonderful Sunday Lunch, a little on the expensive side but well worth it!! PPS the Crown is about 50 yards from Peter's other Holiday let, which looks fab!!

Very friendly owner whom wasn’t over bearing or intrusive at all. We felt like it was a home from home and though it was a difficult time for us we were so comforted by such a lovely place. I celebrated my 30th here and it was great for a celebration. The log fire was ideal for colder evenings and would be amazing in the winter. The honesty box for coal and wood was great too although we took our own, we knew if we ran out late at night there was more right there. The walks around the cottage are brill too. In one week we had snow, rain, storms and bright sunshine. The hot tub was brilliant and we used it everyday. It was well equipped in the kitchen for all kinds of cooking. Our only real bug bear was not having direct parking outside the property as carrying groceries and such In was an inconvenience but nothing that wouldn’t make us book again.
