  • "We have stayed in many cottages in the Lake District and this was the best so far."

We cannot fault it. Having an unlimited supply of logs in the winter months made it a real home-from-home. A kitchen that has everything we needed for our self-catering holiday. We want to come back again so we can use the beautiful summer house !

Owners were nice, they came to say hello on arrival and to ask if we needed anything. Log fire was lovely and made it very cosy. Logs were not rationed. We did not have any trouble with WiFi. We would definitely go again

  • "The location of Corn Cottage is perfect."

The walks from the doorstep are plentiful and fabulous. There is parking for one vehicle on the property, with more at the roadside. The cottage was presentable, however, the toaster didn’t work and the owners were notified and happy to replace, but we used the grill in the oven. The dishwasher worked once and the wash cycle was poor. Again, the owners were notified. This would explain the dirty teacups and pans that on our arrival we had to wash by hand. That said, lots of hot water and the owners kindly provided plenty of logs at no extra cost. I am sure that the issues we had can be easily addressed by the owners.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that the cottage fell sort of our usual high standard on this occasion. You are right that the toaster had stopped working, I offered a replacement straight away but you preferred to use the grill. The dishwasher (a Zanussi domestic model) is working fine. I suspect you opened the door before it had completed the cycle and failed to press the reset button afterwards. Appliance instructions are in the house information folder. I did offer to come in and check the dishwasher as soon as you mentioned that there was an issue, but you refused. All guests are asked to leave the cottage clean and tidy for the next guests. We do check round as we are cleaning the cottage, but not thoroughly enough this time, and we apologise for that. Had you let me or my husband know at the time we would have sorted it at once, we live next door. We are disappointed to receive such poor feedback as we enjoyed chatting in the garden on more than one occasion, and you gave no clue that you were so dissatisfied. Property Owner

Well enough equipped in kitchen. Somewhere indoors too hang wet coats would be useful though we were very lucky with the weather. Log burner was great as cottage was a little cold but this was mid October. Sofa was not the most comfortable Shower would have been nice if a bit hotter. Red Lion pub a short drive away did good food. We were able to do a lovely walk from the door to Beacon Tarn. Other walks a short drive away. Over all, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Cottage was great as it had everything you would need. The weather was brill so most of the time was spent in the Summer house, which surprisingly has a USB port for charging your phone. I would love to return hopefully when a bit colder to experience the log burner. I can confirm that the Garden is not Dog Proof as mine escaped on several occasions. This cottage is ideal for a relaxing, peaceful vacation with lovely views and locals.

Hello Linda, So glad you enjoyed the good weather and the summerhouse; and thank you for your kind words. As you say the garden is not dog proof, particularly for small or large dogs who can get over or under the fence, or possibly through the hedge. We have no plans to alter the fencing at this time. Hello Caitlin So pleased that you enjoyed your holiday in Corn Cottage and that you liked the bathroom which we updated during Storm Arwen when we had no power for 5 days so it all had to be done with hand tools and head torches! Much of the garden is dog proof for medium and large dogs, and those not too agile or adventurous! A small determined dog, or a good jumper would be able to get out. Kind regards Fran Property Owner

The equipment level was spot on, maybe a radio would be a good addition as my phone didn’t work on the speaker provided. Storage, comfort of bed, shower/bathroom, heating, log fire were all excellent. We only self catered once during our four night stay, but all the necessary equipment was available to cater for that option. Loved the outside area. Location good for Coniston Lake and we enjoyed walks from the cottage. All in all a lovely place to stay. Thank you Andy and Fran.

Hello Stuart Thank you for your kind feedback, especially your comment about a radio. It prompted me to check the TV options and I have established that the radio is available through the TV, so will alter the house information to reflect this.
