  • "We needed a holiday to recharge after a few stressful months, the cottage is very, very cosy."

lovely quiet place to relax and recharge yourself. bath room was impeccable only issue was working the shower, this was a very modern shower system but there was no instructions for it in the instructions folder and we couldn't get the water hot. The bath was massive and very comfortable however one slight downfall and this is only my opinion it needed a rail or grab handle to help get out of it or you would get stuck like i did. The WiFi was very hit and miss. personally i would advise people of this in the listing, alot of the time the signal was so weak you could not use it. lastly the sofa, the sofa is very well used and needs replacing asap maybe for a slightly bigger one as you were literally sitting on top of each other and you sunk down into the seat again making it hard to get off. the Farm and family including the lovely dogs made our stay a great just what we needed in a holiday. if the wifi and sofa were sorted would defo stay again. regards Jay and Jo. x

We were made most welcome by the family ( and the dogs!) and everyone was happy to chat and explain the workings of the farm. It was exciting for us to witness the birth of one calf and to see another shortly after its birth. Of course, the new lambs were a delight to watch. • "The cottage was beautifully furnished, however, the front door had a large clear class window which meant that anyone coming downstairs in the morning was in full view to the outside farm, so guests would need to get dressed when getting up for coffee in the morning."

A blind or frosted glass would have made this area much more private. Also there was an a joining door through to the owners cottage with an open keyhole to see through, this needs to be covered up. The bathroom was large and luxurious, however the heated towel rail was off and the bathroom was chilly even in late August and there was only one toilet roll supplied. Having some sort of scouring pad in the kitchen would also help with cleaning sticky saucepans. The farm setting was truly beautiful and the dogs were very friendly, however they were also very noisy at times, more than would generally be expected even on a working farm, on one of the nights the dogs started howling like a pack of wolves at 3 am. Lastly, the late booking in time of 5pm and early departure time of 10 am felt rather inconvenient.

The cottage itself was very cosy and ideal as a base to explore the area, and a drawer full of ideas as to what to do if you get stuck! Despite being seemingly in the middle of no-where we got to the main road in no time at all. We had a great day out going around Lake Vyrnwy with a walk around an amazing waterfall and a drive around the lake, and also a visit to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The whole property is very modern and the kitchen has everything you need, the bathroom has a nice big bath and shower and the bedroom was a decent size with lots of space with drawers and a wardrobe and more than enough soft towels provided! We only needed to consider getting some food in and we were set for out stay! We got a warm welcome from the dogs who made sure we knew which way to head when we got there (and also came to make sure we were OK when we got home after our day out!). The property

A wonderful cottage attached to the owner’s own Grade II listed farmhouse, which dates back to the 16th century, situated on their working sheep and beef farm, in the pretty rural hamlet of Rhos-y-Gwaliau, just two miles from the popular market town of Bala.

Excellently-placed for touring the stunning Snowdonia National Park, this lovely cottage is perfect for a couple who wish to experience authentic country life at a true rural retreat.

The property has been completely renovated to a beautiful standard, providing contemporary accommodation, whilst still retaining plenty of wonderful character features, such as sash windows, exposed stone lintels and deep sills.

This pretty cottage exudes a warm Welsh welcome, and the well-equipped open plan living area boasts a modern kitchen, an intimate dining area and sitting area with a comfy sofa and underfloor heating, ensuring a cosy temperature is maintained.

Upstairs the spacious double bedroom offers oak furniture and splendid views of the countryside, whilst the beautifully-styled bathroom is complemented by nice little touches such as spotlighting, a double shower and a separate double-ended bath, perfect for a pampering soak at the end of a busy day exploring.

Outside, the off road parking area is covered with crushed purple slate, which leads round to the rear of the cottage, creating a raised courtyard area with furniture, a lovely little hideaway, ideal for a morning cup of coffee or a glass of fizz in the evening – just throw a few logs onto the firepit and swap stories long into the night.

There are numerous walks from the doorstep, as well as several outdoor activity centres within easy reach, including the renowned National White Water Centre, offering sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.

Visit Bala and sample the fine selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and there’s also a golf course to practice your swing and mountain bike trails for keen cyclists in your party.

Alternatively, for a more leisurely pastime, take a trip on the Bala Lake Steam Railway, or spend a day exploring Barmouth or Harlech, both with superb sandy beaches.

Further afield great days out can be had at Llangollen and Chirk Castles, whilst the breathtakingly-beautiful Lake Vyrnwy is also well worth a visit.

This delightful cottage is an ideal retreat to be enjoyed all year round, equally perfect for an exciting holiday or relaxing romantic getaway.

About the location

RHOS-Y-GWALIAU

Bala 2.2 miles.

Rhos-y-Gwaliau is a small rural hamlet situated in stunning countryside on the eastern side of the Snowdonia National Park, just over two miles from the lakeside town of Bala. The bustling market town of Bala is located at the head of Llyn Tegid, Bala’s famous lake, which is the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a unique fish called the Gwyniad, a relic of the Ice Age. Renowned as a centre for great watersports, including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and whitewater rafting, Bala is also the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The town itself is steeped in history and has a range of interesting shops, inns and restaurants, as well as an historical town walk. Surrounded by the wonderful Berwyn Mountains on one side and the beautiful Snowdonia Mountain Range on the other, this is a mecca for climbing, walking, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities. An ideal location for touring all of North and Mid Wales, including the stunning Cambrian Bay Coast with the six-mile long Harlech beach, overlooked by its majestic medieval castle. An excellent base for exploring the area.
