  • "Keeper’s Cottage was immaculately clean and beautifully presented."

It was warm and cosy but very spacious for our family of five. Lovely sofas, comfortable beds and good quality towels and bedding. The hot tub towels and flip flops were a thoughtful addition. Our host left the key inside for us as we arrived late in the evening so the groceries provided for us were a very welcomed surprise .The cottage was in a superb area with plenty of local walks but still only a short drive to all the Lake District has to offer. It was the first time our family had visited this area of the UK but we will certainly return for future holidays. We have booked many different properties with Sykes and we are never disappointed. Highly rated.

The hot tub was excellent. The welcome basket, was the best we every had in the UK and most appreciative to get things started. Our host Lindsay, was very special And explained everything to us on arrival. We hope to go back some day. We are on holiday from Canada with our son and his wife to celebrate my 80th birthday and his 50th

All facilities as described. Keepers Cottage is located within easy driving of all the attractions. We had a really enjoyable, relaxing holiday. Plenty of room for everyone. Quiet & secluded. Other properties on site but does not interfere with Keepers Cottage in any way at all. This really is a dream place to stay.

Cosy and warm, yet spacious enough that an adult family of 5 don't feel like they are on top of each other. The beds are comfortable and the bedding quality. Everything that you need for a break is provided, all kitchen basics, maps, suggested walks, games and logs for the fire. The views are amazing! And the hot tub, is well, fab. The only down side that we could find was that we had to leave after our week was up.

The checkout time states 10am on the website however the owners made it clear that it was half 9 so this was a little awkward. We would say the service and interactions with the owners had alot left to be desired however we didn't let this affect us having a great time. There was an awful drain smell which came and went throughout the week in the bathrooms, sometimes you couldn't smell anything and other times it was dreadful. Wouldn't revisit again but enjoyed it for the week.

Cartmel is only a 10 min drive away with some lovely pubs and a fab wineshop with a winesnug attached to it for a few cheeky glasses. Everything was to a very high standard, including the cleanliness. We appreciated being able to walk from the cottage and walked to Cartmel and back! There are some lovely places to visit in the area and we had family staying at Lakeside Village which was really convenient. We have stayed in many self-catering properties over the years. Customers expect higher standards these days as it's not always the cheapest option, and Keeper's Cottage is at the top of our list. so thankyou to Sykes for offering a high standard of property to let.

  • "Beautiful, luxury cottage with stunning views."

Lots of little unexpected extras - Prosecco, bread, milk, eggs, jams and biscuits left for us. Kitchen supplies eg tin foil. tomato sauce etc, also in the cupboards so we needn't have bought the kitchen sink with us! Have marked down facilities because of: Difficult to use the hob - maybe the pans weren't for induction? Took a long time to cook anything. Fire sensor directly about the grill in the kitchen which meant it went off constantly while grilling! Problem with the radiators in bedrooms 1 and 2 - very bad hammering sound day and night. Reported to owner as probably need draining. Owner kind and attentive. An excellent stay overall. Particularly enjoyed the use of the hot tub.
