  • "The cottage and location are amazing!"

Beds supercomfy! Hot tub very relaxing after a day out! In general the facilities were amazing though there were a few things tha could definitely be improved on. For example there were no small kitchen knives (essential for many cooking tasks), no small glasses (useful for fruit juice), only 3 plastic glasses! Most of the baking trays/roasting tins need throwing away (rusty and or scratched to bits), there were insufficient casseroles/ serving dishes. Only 2 casseroles and only one had lid! There was a colander/sieve with a hole in the base (might as well throw that out too) and the large frying pan needs to be looked at (the handle was loose and my husband tightened it so we could use it). A filter coffee machine would be useful and less messy than the cafetiere.

We really appreciate your feedback, and thank you for your comments. We are always happy to add/replace any items that you need during your stay, and we will update the kitchen accordingly. Property Owner

  • "We stayed in Hazel cottage for a weekend, there were 3 families of four so 6 adults and 6 children."

The cottage was perfect. The layout is really good with the open plan kitchen and dining area which has an extra area with a sofa and tv. The room at the back with the log burner was really nice and we could easily watch the kids in the hot tub which they absolutely loved. The bedrooms are really nice and you can ask for twins or double beds before you arrive. The location is great and really close to all the local attractions, we walked into town one day which was a nice walk. The only criticism I would have is when you search for properties on Sykes and Hazel comes up it clearly states ‘no pets’ but when we arrived there were dog treats in the house and some old towels for drying dogs so we could have taken ours but instead we left them at home being looked after. It was a bit disappointing as it’s great to walk your dog in the lakes. One more tiny detail is the walk in the information pack in the cottage is not very easy to follow, the directions are wrong and it basically stops directions before you get to the town. It was a great weekend though and we will be staying again in the future.

Comfortable, clean and spacious with everything we needed. Couple of small things that need attention are the grill on oven just smokes when turned on and the shaving socket in family room did not work. Other than that was exceptional. Thank you.

Lovely welcome pack. Peaceful location and handy for exploring the Lakes. Only one thing to mention, was surprised that there weren't stairgates to keep our toddler safe. Perhaps these were something I should have requested ?

Hi Hillary, Thank you for taking the time to feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We do have a number of stair gates on site and yes you could have requested them as highlighted in our property information. Glad it was not an issue though and you will know if you come back to stay in the future. Kind regards Jo, Sarah, Martin and the rest of the team Property Owner

I wasn’t really sure what to expect as the photos aren’t a true reality of what you get. What you get far outweighs the photos. Every inch of our lodge was clean and very well stocked with essentials I.e tea/coffee/cleaning essentials which was a nice touch compared to the likes of Center Parcs. Beautiful apartment, friendly and responsive staff. Beds are AMAZING, so comfortable and beautifully clean. Thanks so much, a perfect place to meet up with family/friends. Would highly recommend and would love to return in the future.

We were a group of 12 friends and there was plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for all of us. The beds were really comfortable and all except one could be separated to limit bed sharing! The kitchen was well equipped and open plan to the dining area to make catering a social event. We loved the hot tub, perfect for warming up after our swims in Windermere. We'd highly recommend staying at Hazel cottage, situated within walking distance of Bowness

i required a downstairs living area, and i got that, with plenty of space to manoeuvre. i asked the owners for a ramp, to bring my wheelchair into the property and that was done with ease and no fuss. When i phoned the owner, he was very polite and easy to talk to, and helped us out, so very grateful to THE OAKS and will happily like to come again. If there was anything i would change; it would be better if WIFI across the whole property, was consistently good, as it dropped a lot, and the seating areas had little or no connection. also directions to use the washing Machine/Dryer, as we had to guess parts of it. Awful plastic flowering the sitting area (why?). Back door to the garden area would not lock very well makes cottage not totally secure Induction hob yet one pan not useable on induction Staff very helpful Great location

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you found our staff so helpful, we take real pride in offering our guests a great service. Had you notified us of these points during your stay one of our team would have been very happy to address them for you, such as swapping pillows or removing extra pans. The property listing already states that we’re pleased to offer two allocated parking spaces for this property with additional parking available nearby. For the protection of our cleaning team and subsequent guests we ask for bed linen to bagged on departure due to the Covid pandemic; we feel this is a reasonable request and guests are happy to help. We have checked the complimentary first aid kit and rear door and everything is in order. The location is very good, merely 5 minutes drive from Bowness and within easy reach of the many attractions the area has to offer. We enjoyed the hot tub and our regular visits from the ducks. The telephone contacts prior to the holiday, and staff on arrival, were all very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the downstairs twin bedroom, which I would say is only suitable for children. All other bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe and drawer storage with dressing table and mirror area, plus en-suite facilities. The downstairs twin room, which has shared bathroom facilities, has very little storage, no shelf or dressing table area and no mirror, which made it difficult for my wife when drying hair, applying make-up etc. Nevertheless, we would certainly return and have already recommended the cottage to others. Everything about it was great for our group. The only comments I feel I need to make for improvement are, the shower in a bedroom upstairs was blocked and that meant the shower tray filled up. There was no potato peeler (made the roast challenging) and the door frame of the patio door was so gone there was a huge gap around the door that you could see outside.
