  • "Lot of rising damp felt not quite warm enough, perhaps because it wasn’t in regular use in previous weeks."

Some things need replacing, frying pans and especially television Property wonderfully clean and very spacious and great for a family holiday in a lovely part of the country

  • "Lovely spacious house set in a quiet, ideal location and in close proximity to Lake Windermere and the other Lakes."

Good sized kitchen and three bedrooms with the unusual benefit of en-suite bathrooms. It has all the facilities required for a comfortable stay. Outside is a good sized garden which was perfect for the dogs to wander and investigate (apologies if they left a few small craters in the lawn). Thank you for making our New Year’s celebrations special.

  • "Had a fantastic long weekend away here, Sunday lunch in the local pub was fantastic although we had to nominate a driver as the cottage is very rural."

The description states it was within walking distance but this meant using a public right of way across some wet farmers fields great for walking the dog but be prepared. Horses were very friendly….

  • "This is a beautiful place, so much space for 8 people."

It was well maintained but we need to wash some of the things in the kitchen before we could use them. Geoff was lovely, very attentive, and the treats waiting for us on arrival were a nice surprise. The drive to the car park for Lake Windermere was about 40 minutes and it was 1 hour 15 minutes to Aira Force Waterfall. We really enjoyed our week's stay and would definitely recommend this as a good location for all the Lake District has to offer.

  • "Greety Gate House is a beautiful house which is well maintained and has a great amount of space for a large family/ group."

The house was very clean aside from a few spiders webs in the top room. The garden is beautiful, just a shame the weather didn’t allow us to enjoy it as much as we would have wanted to! The only downside is that the house is very rural which means you have to drive a while to find anything! You cannot just walk out of the property which is a shame as the area is stunning! We had a lovely stay and hope to return in the future.

Thank you Emily really glad you enjoyed your stay apart from the weather that is something we can’t control. Yes Spiders love old houses and as quick as I get rid they come back , so apologies for finding cobwebs. Hope to see you return one day and hope your journey home wasn’t as long as travelling up . • "We have just had the most beautiful week in your stunning farmhouse with great weather."

We were greeted with a lovely package when we arrived at the farmhouse, which consisted of milk, flowers, chocolates , a card and treats for our dogs The farmhouse felt like home, it was spacious, beautiful bedrooms and the most stunning garden- the pictures really don’t do it justice with views to the estuary. The cottage has everything amd more you need for your stay- even games and books. Every morning we would sit out in the beautiful garden soaking up the sun. The neighbours were also very friendly. Broughton is within walking distance over a field to a great real ale pub, bakery and shop. Windermere was a short drive and so was coniston. We also visited Buttermere, Thirlmere, Ambleside, Grassmere amd Keswick. Everyday we ventured around the Lakes, there’s so much to see and do- if only we stayed for longer. We will definitely be booking with you again to this beautiful part of the Lake District. We have stayed in numerous cottages over the years and this has to be favourite so far. Highly recommended Thank you

Thank you Sabina for your lovely lovely comments very much appreciated. The weather has been fantastic for you and glad you felt so at home. Your comments in our visitors book was also great. Not everyone leaves us messages. Look forward to seeing you again Geoff and Deborah Hall xx Property Owner

  • "Lovely property with a home from home experience."

Lovely big garden. Neighbours were wonderful and told us all the best places around the area and also the little walk 50 yards from the property. Only drawer back was there was no pathway on the roadside so had to walk through fields which was great for us but maybe not for someone less able. Beautiful village of Broughton only 5 minutes drive which has a lovely bakery and butchers and some nice pubs.

About the location

BROUGHTON-IN-FURNESS

Millom 7.5 miles; Coniston 9 miles; Ulverston 9.5 miles.

Dating back to the 11th century, Broughton-in-Furness is situated in the south western corner of the Lake District and is just six miles from Coniston Water. There is much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes, many of them Georgian in origin. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. Norman Nicholson, one of Britain's finest 20th century poets and William Wordsworth, both immortalised this area in their writing and poetry. The village was home to Branwell Bronte, brother of the Bronte sisters, for a short time. The Furness railway line runs from nearby Foxfield and makes for an ideal day out, travelling the west coast of Cumbria. Set amidst the charm of the Lake District and close to the sea, this attractive town makes an inspiring choice from which to further explore a magical heartland of silver lakes, lofty towering peaks and lonely, heather-clad moors.
