  • "This is a wonderful, cosy cottage in the heart of Bowness."

So close to shops, pubs, restaurants and the lake. The fire in the cottage was lovely and what you need for it at the shops close by. We all had a wonderful time and great for families with lots of space. We have 2 children 16 and 13 and they loved the cottage.

  • "Raglan was one of the best places we’ve stayed at, and we’ve been using self-catering accommodation for many years the world over."

The photos somehow don’t do it justice - it is a lovely and comfortable home, with all the mod-cons in top working condition, and an inspired interior that captures a sense of history and place while still giving you a contemporary experience. Location cannot be faulted being in the centre of Bowness and a few minutes walk to the pier. We stayed over New Years and had an outstanding time - thank you for the Christmas decor and festive cheer! I fully recommend and would certainly stay again. A small note that the living room table lamp’s bulb went just on the morning that we checked out - didn't affect our stay but will need to be replaced for the next guests. Thank you for a wonderful stay and Happy New Year!

The cottage is kept to a high standard and is very comfortable. It is central to the shops and restaurants in Bowness on Windermere. With the bus stop at the end of the road you can travel anywhere with ease and is also a very good service.

  • "Great location as just a few minutes stroll right into Windermere."

Although difficult to park outside the property, the permit lets you park on the road behind which was sufficient for us. Beds were comfy to sleep in with 3 tvs in the house. Unfortunately the property was not as clean as expected, there was a lot of dust and I found hairs (not ours) on the bed. The property could do with a deep clean. There was no tea or coffee available, which is normally standard. The washing machine is based in the outhouse which we had to find ourselves as there were no instructions. (We weren’t aware there was an outhouse!)

Raglan Cottage was so quaint and inside everything one could wish for to make self catering a breeze. So nice to have brochures not only on how appliances work, a parking permit and details of where to park if parking not available in the street. Also details of things to do in the area. The situation of the cottage is central to everything.

It is a lovely home from home with all of the facilities you might possibly need. It’s warm, the beds are comfortable with big rooms, plenty of hot water, nice kitchen and dining room, parking (a premium in The Lakes) and within easy walking distance for Bowness and it’s amenities. The cottage is nicely decorated and I have absolutely no complaints at all and look forwards to staying again soon.

It was a lovely place to stay for my first time in the Lake District and felt like home. I appreciated the instructions throughout the cottage on how to use appliances, etc. The hot water was a bit lukewarm. In all other respects it was a perfect stay!

We are pleased that your enjoyed your visit and hope that you will visit our cottage again in the future. Should you do so, please run the hot water for a minute in cold weather to allow the combi boiler to supply hot water to the bathroom. I emailed you (Lakes Cottages) on Tuesday to see if we needed to adjust anything and I received no reply. So in summary the cottage was marvellous which is a credit to the owners, but let down by the letting agent not been helpful when there was an issue.

Thanks for visiting our holiday let, Raglan Cottage. We are really glad you enjoyed your visit and we are really sorry that you experienced a problem with the hot water. A plumber has attended and reset the pressure on the boiler. 8 days and 7 nights holiday didn’t have any rain, it was sunshine every day, made our journey especially enjoyable. The location is brilliant, near lots of attractions and local shops and restaurants. I really want to appreciate the team who manage their house. Location is perfect, we liked the walk up & down into the main town. The only bad thing was all the towels had a foisty smell & an electric towel rail would be beneficial as having 2 showers a day they didn’t dry. Next time we would just take our own towels so it’s no big issue.

The cottage is well equipped, clean and cosy. The beds were very comfortable and the amount of space is great for a holiday cottage. The parking was variable, sometimes none and sometimes lots so we paid for a 7 day car park pass for the car park at the end of the road then just used that when we couldn’t get on the street.

Cottage itself was spacious, lovely and welcoming, warm & clean on arrival. The weather as you would expect for late October was very wet on couple of days and could have been tough especially with a small child but this didn't matter to us in our 'home away from home', we had come prepared with our DVD's & games so were able to entertain ourselves. Log burner looks lovely but wasn't needed as the cottage is kept at a good temp throughout. Would definitely recommend to family & friends - only downside was the parking & although we fell lucky with parking and were able to park on the street, I hadn't realised how tight this would be.

Raglan Cottage was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. All the shops, restaurants cafes and bars you could need are practically on the doorstep, the main supermarket Booths is a short drive away next to Windermere train station. Most bars, restaurants and cafes are operating a walk in service, some you can book in advance, our favourite Italian restaurant, Rastelli, being right at the end of the road ( booking recommended) The lake is a short walk down the hill, where you can pick up a lake cruise( limited routes during the current Covid restrictions and online booking only) We had a very enjoyable few days away, Covid 19 is taken very seriously here and we never felt at any greater risk than at home.

The location is perfect and the cottage itself has a lovely warm and homely feel to it. The facilities are excellent and everything you need for your stay is provided. The only advice I would give is to maybe explain the parking situation a little more before arrival as when we turned up we thought we had no space and phoned Sykes who contacted the owners. It wasn't until we got in the property we seen the instructions. We parked in a neighbouring street the first night and was then able to move to the property the following day so it was no issue at all, just a bit of a panic when first arriving with a full car and a small baby. Overall a fantastic holiday and we are already looking to book Raglan Cottage for next year:)

The cottage was everything we could hope for and more, really comfortable and finished to a high standard. The only complaint I have are the single beds could do with new mattresses as you can really feel the springs - my child slept on the sofa the first night until I found blankets etc to pad the top of the mattress. The main bed was lovely and comfortable.
