  • "Our third visit to Tutheren."

We enjoyed feeding the birds and watching so many species from the lodge that we renamed it a self-catering bird hide! It's a well equipped, comfortable lodge in a more traditional style and we quickly got the hang of the new tv and heaters (which we only needed for about an hour once!). The beds are particularly comfortable. We like it's position - a fairly easy walk into the middle of Keswick and just a short walk to the excellent Pheasant pub for really good meals. Although near the A66, we found the traffic noise to be unobtrusive. We will return

Everything we needed for a great stay. Plenty of walks without having to use the car at all. Great stay overall. Thank you.

Hazel, I am so pleased that you had a good time in Tutheren; the weather in the Lakes is somewhat unpredictable and that can detract from a stay - you were lucky! Skiddaw next time. We do try our best and try always to listen to and act upon Guest feedback. Property Owner

It was a real home from home. A peaceful location just outside the busy centre surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived and the lodge had everything we needed and even a few extra homely touches to make it the perfect stay.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We genuinely try to make sure that our guests enjoy every minute of their visit to what we believe to be the most beautiful place in England and that they can relax and re-energise in comfort at the end of each day. Property Owner

  • "Great lodge that is very comfortable, clean & very well equipped."

A stone's throw from the nearest pub serving food & drinks & a short stroll into Keswick (about 20 minutes). Nice comfy bed with all bedding & towels provided. Outside furniture on hand to sit on the veranda & watch the birds feeding from the feeders. Even the bird seed & peanuts for the feeders were provided! Good relaxing holiday that, I'm sure, we'll book again.

Easy to follow instructions regarding wifi, heating, appliances etc. A very good choice of DVDs and books to pass away any rainy days (which we didn't have for a change).

  • "Tutheren was wonderful accommodation."

Clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped with everything we needed. The location was perfect, tucked away but just a short and pleasant walk by the river to the town. Incredible views from the lodge, a lovely sunny decking area with sheep, lambs, pheasants and birds for company. The site is secure and well maintained. Many places we stay, we always say ‘it would be perfect if…’ at Tutheren we didn’t as was perfect as it was. When we return to Keswick we will book Tutheren.

Thank you for your kind words. We do try hard to make a stay at Tutheren relaxing, enjoyable and a credit to the wonderful Lake District. Any feedback is important to help us achieve that objective. Property Owner

Clean, comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable bed and good shower. Handy for Keswick, a decent Pub and all our favourite walks and the other Lakes Only used the car once in 7 days Having no WiFi may be an issue for some (and limited TV channels), but this is escapism

  • "Overall a comfortable lodge."

Difficult to have to set all the timers on the electrical appliances before using as all electricity was turned off and lodge only 15 degrees on arrival. A simple guide would be better than the original booklets that came with cooker, microwave, heaters etc. Settees not the most supportive to sit on. Beds very comfortable but pillows too thick. Would have liked an Option of thinner pillows, had to use the ones of settee to sleep on. Guide for water heater needs updating on folder. The washer dryer was a bonus as the write up only said there was a washer. Otherwise a great location and setting. Easy to walk to Keswick town centre.

Burnside park is a well maintained, quiet site in a very convenient position. Although there is some traffic noise from the A66, it's far enough away to not worry us. We felt safe and found the covid compliance to be sensible without going over the top.

  • "Tutheren was warm, comfortable and extremely well equipped."

The situation was splendid, being secluded and quiet but only a short distance from town - if I were younger and fitter I would have walked it! We did enjoy watching the birds from the lovely deck, especially the pheasants looking to be fed. The lodge was splendidly equipped with games, books and DVDs. Enough for a wet fortnight! in fact, everything had been thought of. Keswick is a friendly small town in a fabulous setting, with a very good open-air market twice a week. Derwentwater is very beautiful, with lots of easy walks. And the Lakeside Theatre is an added bonus. We went to one performance there(very good) and twice had a meal in their lovely restaurant overlooking the water. In fact, we enjoyed everything so much that we are already planning another visit next year. Must also say that the girls in the office were extremely helpful and friendly. The only thing that wasn't playing ball was the weather, but even that was better than forecast and there is plenty to do in Keswick, rain or shine. So thank you for a lovely Autumn break!

  • "The pictures do not do this little lodge justice!"

It was a lovely stay and there were lots of little extras to make our stay lovely. We only had a couple of tiny niggles, one is there wasn't a heatproof mat to put the hot pans onto and the second is that a flat sheet would be beneficial in the master bedroom as the memory foam mattress was very hot to sleep on.

  • "In the main we enjoyed our stay at Tutheren."

We were also so lucky to have sunshine every day even with a cool breeze. It is in a great location despite the traffic noise from the busy A66. We found the main living area to be spacious and comfortable although personally we are not keen on leather seating as it feels chilly - but that is a very personal choice and I took a throw to cover the couches. The TV worked fine. The kitchen eating area was perfectly adequate as we only made breakfast each day (cereal or toast). I left the kitchen sink cleaner than I found it. The general cleanliness was adequate but there were cobwebs and the cabin window sills and openers were not clean. The veranda was not too clean or the furniture, so perhaps nobody had stayed the previous week? On arrival it all felt rather chilly but we got the heating going and it soon felt warm and comfortable. We found the bedrooms to be a squash to be honest and it was hard to find a mirror to actually see yourself clearly as the pine walls and ceilings together with the poor lighting gave the place a bit of a gloomy feeling, which also made it difficult to read anywhere. I was expecting hotel quality bedding for the price we had paid but it was not. You have to keep the blinds closed either side as the neighbours cabins were very close by and therefore you could see into each others cabins. That was not a big issue for us but again it kept the light out. The bathroom was small but the shower was good. We are older so would have appreciated a rail of some sort within the shower cubicle. We appreciated the bird food tubs on the veranda and enjoyed feeding the birds each day and watching their antics closely whilst having breakfast. We thought the key collection worked very well. A lot of the above comments have been raised in previous reviews. Tips: We enjoyed the food especially at the George Hotel though the portions were enormous and they catered well for gluten free customers. If you go into Keswick to eat in the evening around 6.30pm - 7pm you can park on the opposite side to the key collection office on Station Street for free, without paying heavy car park fees. We found it probably best to book your evening meal in advance as we did have a struggle to get in anywhere one evening, so pre plan is our advice. Keswick as always is lovely and we can also recommend a drive to Pooley Bridge (car park £8), sail on Ullswater to Glenridding, and go for a light lunch in the fantastic surroundings of the Inn on The Lake, then sail back again. Lovely! All in all we enjoyed our Keswick holiday.

Tutheren was perfect - very comfortable and cosy. My only comment is about the listing - it may be helpful to mention that there is no Wi-Fi (not a big deal !!) and that there is a dishwasher. Otherwise, we hope to be back. Thank you.

Little and not so little items as extra blankets, duvets, pillows, all kitchen utensils and plenty of crockery and cutlery. All electrical appliances were in perfect order and very pleased with the double bed mattress (tempur) many thanks for that too. There were many films and games to use which we didn’t have time to try just a couple. A perfect location for climbing skiddo and to Keswick just a short walk. Thanks for making the lodge such a great holiday place.
