Ideally located, tastefully decorated , very warm hot tub amazing also had power cut in area affecting the whole area which caused us minor issues however owners where very quick to respond and moved heaven and earth to put situation right we spent the whole week there and after all the hikes and adventures during the day the lodge was like heaven to get back too. I have to say that this is a lodge that the owners take great pride in an also ensure the best for their paying guests. Spotlessly clean, fully equipped even down to tea/coffee/sugar/torches/kitchen roll/tinfoil etc(no it doesn't have a dishwasher but that never bothers us!) A large fridge and freezer a bonus as some only have tiny ones. Even down to the lovely artworks on walls .. every detail has been thought of. Reading reviews prior to booking the bed was mentioned but we found it comfortable. Plug in air freshners were also mentioned..we just unplugged them so not a problem. Sofas grubby? No they are not. They are low but comfortable! Carpets are also nice! If I have to say anything 'wrong?!'.. we found the bathroom sink is very small so it's hard not to spill water having a face wash (that's all we can come up with

  • "In general the lodge was very clean and had everything you could want for a lovely stay."

Unfortunatly though the main bedroom mattress was incredibly uncomfortable, me and my wife hardly got any sleep. We tried to flip the mattress and rotate to find a comfort spot but the mattress is soo old, lumpy, worn and past its time, it needs to be replaced. I did notice a review about this mattress quite some time ago so would of expected it to be replaced but clearly not. Having said that my daughter slept very well in her bed and the rest of the lodge was fantastic. Another note is the pool on site, if you book through sykes and not park Dean themselves you don't get the opportunity to book for swimming and have to rely on the limited walk in spaces available per session. This proved difficult, and something we haven't experienced on other sites. So my advice would be to check with the site themselves before booking to make sure you are aware how they run this so you don't get disappointed. All in all though had a lovely time away, the lodge is positioned in a really quite spot on the park, within easy walking distance to the hub and other facilities.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the comfort of a mattress is very much a personal thing we find. The mattress is under two years old and is memory foam and previous guests have also commented on how comfortable it is and also asked for details as to where we bought it so we do appreciate it may not suit all. With regards to the on site facilities, we have no control over this and it is best guests speak direct to the site on this. We're glad that overall you enjoyed your stay at our lodge :-). • "Generally a very nice lodge and well presented."

The hot tub was great and the lodge was well presented. The location and setting was ideal, however several other people as well as ourselves found negotiating the park not easy (especially at night) with limited signage and lighting. We had an issue with the toilet flush on our visit which was promptly resolved by the owners by use of a local plumber. Our only criticism was the mould/dirt build up on the bed bases and bottom of the wardrobe which needs addressing (when near outside walls) and the lack of dishwasher in the lodge. Apart from that, an enjoyable stay !

Thank you for your feedback. We have addressed the signage and lighting with the site on several occasions along with other owners and will take it up with management again. Unfortunately we have no control over site facilities I'm afraid, With regards to the mold, due to months of damp weather this year the mold has become a problem for us, however, we have already applied mold spray in all areas and re-painted with mold prevention paint and will of course do regular checks to keep on top of the problem. We've also had new carpets fitted throughout. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again sometime :-) Eileen and Graham Jones (owners) Property Owner

  • "A lovely peaceful location convenient for local towns and beautiful walks."

The outlook from the cabin is lovely, surrounded by trees but only a short walk to the marina and the reception area. Everything is provided that you need which is great. Cannot fault the overall superficial cleanliness but the sofa appeared grubby, probably given the material and inability to deep clean between visitors. There are parts that appear tired and there are some marks and stains around. The number of air freshener devices caused problems for me. A plug in device in each room and 3 vases in the lounge was overpowering from the minute we opened the door. The bed was ridiculously uncomfortable as there was wood between the base and mattress and what little sleep you do get is interrupted by the hot tub noise throughout the night right outside the window. This would be the same in one of the twin rooms. The hot tub could be a lovely addition however it quickly cools and the fast jets seem to add cold water, which is not particularly beneficial at the end of the day. Given the amount we paid and the facilities and experience we have had in other lodges on this site and at other locations we feel this was a very overpriced break and to be honest we have arrived home feeling disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very proud of our lodge and always try to ensure our guests have a pleasant stay and are disappointed you didn't fully enjoy your stay. Comfort of beds is always difficult as people have varying needs. We like to ensure the lodge smells fresh hence the plugs ins but these can easily be turned off if offensive. The vases all contain fake flowers so give off no aroma. We always send a welcome email and also provide details of the hot tub provider in case of any issues but we heard nothing during your stay and would have been happy to assist with any issues you had if contacted. Many thanks Eileen and Graham Jones (owners) Property Owner

The position of the Lodge and the location were great, and enjoyed many morning walks down to the Marina. An added bonus was having the Hot tub. Facilities on site were adequate for our needs. We would definitely book again. If i were to add suggestions perhaps a Hoover, and additional tea towels, being provided, would have been a bonus, however the site does a have a laundrette which we used.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We have now installed a hoover in the property following this request from yourself and a previous guest. With regards to tea towels we provide a kitchen starter pack to assist guests, however as this is a self catering holiday we always recommend guests take enough to cover what they may need for their full stay. Does not give access to Netflix, Sky TV, Screen Sharing etc. Investment of around £300 on TV will be great. The two small bedrooms had 2 single beds I think 2Ft6in which made Bedroom very congested. Consider having a 4ft Bed which is sufficient for most couples.

Best ever stayed in especially for cleanliness. Would definitely stay here again if we go back. Very comfortable as well and cosy. Only suggestion is for an outside light to be put by the steps as the light outside isn’t bright enough to cover the steps. Had to use the car headlights to light up the steps. Two shower heads is brilliant especially the rain head however the shower tray could do with a lip as the bathroom floor floods. Hot tub is a bonus. I never thought I would get in one but it is brilliant. Especially after a day around the lakes. My wife wanted to bring it home. Other than that we had no issues. Everything was perfect. Well done to the owners Eileen and Graham for a perfect lodge. Erroll and Tracey.

TV could do with some form of casting function so can hookup smart devices to play netflix etc. But that is a very minor grumble. One only issue when staying there (which isn't the owners fault or real problem with the property) was the noisey neighbours (they had 3 dogs and were out barking from 4.30am till the owners eventually got up at around 7am) *please edit this part for online publishing as it's not relevant to the property and more to do with the people who hired the property*

When we had problems with the tap and a plug the owner swiftly got people out to resolve it! No wifi but that didn’t bother us too much as it meant the teenagers had to talk to one another. Would benefit from a bbq slab and the outside area could do with more than 4 chairs as the cabin sleeps 6. We would definitely book again

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you do visit again. With regards to a BBQ we feel there is too much of a potential fire risk in providing this and therefore made a conscious decision not to provide one. Thank you for your feedback. I think there is a misunderstanding regarding the damage done whilst you and your party were at our lodge and no retraction was made. We asked for more time to investigate the damage to the kitchen cupboard door and were happy to advise it was not as bad as the pictures we were provided with by our cleaner and therefore would not need to replace the door at your cost. We're sorry you feel we were rude whilst addressing this and also the mess left behind by your party, this wasn't our intention and we were more concerned in trying to resolve the damage situation. Everything we needed was in the lodge. We had booked the tree top and boat hire from brockhole and as it was so close we walked and used the ferry to get around, other than a day at the zoo. We found everyone helpful during our stay and Eileen was very quick to answer our queries when we needed to get in touch. The site is amazing as a base and we did buy a pass for the family but in all honesty we didn’t really need it, we only went swimming once and the movie night, which had to be moved indoors because of the weather, wasn’t the best but they did try and get everyone sorted. But worst of all when the old kettle blow the electricity I had to climb over all sorts of rubbish at the back of the lodge to switch it back on. So bad I twisted my ankle and cut my leg. I have pictures

Thank you for your feedback.  We wanted to reassure you we will look into all and address any issues.  We would like to note the kettle is not old and it was unfortunate this was the item that caused the power surge that resulted in the fuse box tripping.  Once notified we replaced this immediately.  As the lodge is set in a woodland area there is natural wood debris but access to the fuse box is not impeded, however, we will contact the park to remove any other items there may be at the back of the lodge as they are responsible for any land beyond our decking area. With regards to the bathroom, there is some recurring mould on the shower sealant which our cleaners are trying to address, however, this does not detract from how clean the lodge is it is just an unfortunate result of constant use and a common problem in many homes but we will of course try to address it more aggressively.  We understand you had already installed yourself in the lodge hours before the 4:00 pm check in time despite being made aware of this by both Sykes and us the owners and complained to the cleaners about the lodge not being cleaned which added to the pressure for them to complete their task.  We can assure you we take great pride in maintaining our lodge to a good standard and are sorry that on this occasion it didn't meet  your expectations. Such a beautiful lodge with very high attention to detail taken with the cleaning before we arrived. The lodge smelt extremely clean with a care package of essential cleaning supplies left in the lodge was much appreciated. It was very well equipped with everything you needed for your stay. Situated on a beautiful plot very quiet with a secure balcony for the children to play safely away from and traffic. From 2 adults who suffer with bad backs we were amazed at the mattress in the master bedroom it was so supportive and maybe the best one we have ever slept on. The hot tub was wonderful and was checked twice a day by a hot tub company for our peace of mind and safety. The owners were lovely and friendly and always on hand to assist with and queries.
