The house has been modernised for comfort, practicality and convenience while retaining attractive traditional features and aesthetic. It is well maintained and equipped, and was a welcoming place to feel at home. Thanks to Mairi for her care and attention to details.

  • "We loved the cottage - it was clean, well equipped and comfy, a lovely homely place to relax after a busy day, with a very quiet location perfect to take in the busy natural world around it."

Skerray Harbour was like a secret surprise to discover just a short walk up the lane - a contast to the magnificence of Torrisdale Beach. We enjoyed excellent walks - the North Coast (I don't mean the NC500!) is amazing.

Thank you so much for your lovely positive feedback. I am so glad you liked the house and the amazing area and had a good holiday. Mairi Property Owner

  • "Cottage was as described."

The cleanliness was excellent. We were able to gain entry on day of arrival at 4pm. All instructions were clear. The area is stunning with at least 5 places for evening meals within 10-15 miles. Plenty of local walks and beaches. Skerray itself is nice and quiet. The polytunnel (Torrisdale Tunnel) is worth a visit. However, no proper shop in Tongue so worth taking your own food, though Tesco seem to do a roaring trade in home deliveries. Coffee places mixed and sometimes hard to find. Only slight negative on the cottage is that a dishwasher would have been more use to us than a washing machine.

  • "Loved the remote location and peace & quiet."

It was spotlessly clean and tidy. WiFi worked well all week and the Freesat TV was great too. There is a tiny community Post Office in the building next door that is open for two hours a day but other than that the closest shop is the Bettyhill General Merchants where there is a petrol/diesel pump too. The nearest supermarket is in Thurso so come prepared. Better still eat out like we did. We had lovely meals in the Borgie Lodge hotel which is about 10mins drive. Also had a good meal at the Bettyhill Hotel but the Borgie Lodge hotel was better.

  • "The cottage was fantastic but the only thing that let it down was the blinds/curtains in the bedroom which were useless."

Tge sun comes up at 3am and that's when you get woken.

  • "A peaceful stay in a beautiful setting."

Having been built by the owner's great grandfather, Ornum wears it's history on it's sleeve and it sits well in this deeply historical landscape. The house is well equipped and comfortable but it is the surrounding area which is breathtaking. Beautiful beaches, huge skies and big landscapes. Skerray is slightly off the beaten track and very peaceful. We loved our stay here and discovered hidden gems every where. Thank you very much, Mairi, for sharing it with us.

  • "A thoroughly enjoyable time."

The cottage was warm, cosy and perfect for our "retreat" which included walking, reading, relaxing relaxing and relaxing! Skerray was a good centre to base ourselves.
