  • "Our stay was perfect!"

Great location for the Mach Loop. Discription is spot on. We stopped on the way to get supplies as the local shop/cafe is limited, but great for bits and bobs. l 100% encourage you to have a breakfast at the cafe....and buy a cake on the way out! The red velvet cupcakes were great. Parking discription is accurate, very limited, however we had no issues. We got parked outside the property or on the main road. If we had to we could have used the pub as we went for a few drinks and they were very a compdating. The parking situation wouldn't pit us off going back. The cottage itself was clean, modern and fully stocked in regards to kitchenware. We had a lovely wander down the path to the river at the back of the cottage, saw all the sheep! We 100% will be back to this idyllic village and cottage.

Thank you for finding time to review Tan Y Gerddi. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. We aim to always do the best for our guests. The shop and cafe in the village are a bonus and of course the Penrhos Arms too. We look forward to welcoming you both again next time you visit the Mach Loop. Property Owner

  • "Whilst the advice on parking was appreciated it became a serious issue to the point the we left a day early, due to the possibility of not being able to get parked anywhere in the village."

That situation almost occurred the previous evening, we managed to get the last possible parking space but 10minutes later who knows? That included all the main road parking and the pub car park TOTALLY FULL. Whilst the cottage was reasonably comfortable it was lacking in cooking equipment if you intended to do anything but basic self catering. EG: no cooks knife and a totally blunt paring knife but amazingly a good bread knife ?????? If you are going to eat out all the time and are arriving by bicycle or motorbike, it's not a bad option ...otherwise roll the dice !

Sorry to hear that you couldn't find a suitable parking spot for some of your stay. The Penrhos Arms usually has plenty of room and they are so obliging. We do have other suggestions, all close by, which we will add to the information sheet so thanks for letting us know. We have provided lots of equipment for guests who wish to cook their own meals at Tan Y Gerddi, pots, pans and bowls etc. We will however definitely get a set of good knives at your suggestion, thanks. Again,we are sorry that the parking was a problem on this occasion and that your break was cut short. Property Owner

  • "It's a lovely cottage."

Very clean and lots of little extras I wasn't expecting like biscuits, chocolates, tea and sugar. Well equipped when your self catering but worth taking a few things if you're cooking for yourself as the local shop is a bit limited. The pub across the road has good food at a reasonable price too. Perfect place to stay in Wales, great for the Mach Loop and plenty to see within a reasonable drive. Will definitely book again

! Make sure you bring some food as the nearest shop or takeaway is some miles away, there is a local pub but we never got to grips with the opening times, there is also a small cafe about 75 yards from the property.

The valley is absolutely beautiful. It might be worth mentioning to turn down the lane by the coffee shop - we arrived in the dark and it wasn’t immediately obvious. The pub is a stones throw away and we had no problems with parking. Thoroughly recommend Tan Y Gerrddi.

The cottage is comfortable with everything supplied that you need, and we very much appreciated the gifts that were left for us and our dog. The parking is difficult but we knew that beforehand and we were able to park in the pub car park if we had a meal or two in there - which we did and the food is very good. Any queries that we had were quickly resolved by the owners, Kath & Mike. The surrounding area is lovely, especially by the river. Tan Y Gerddi is a great base for visiting the sights in Wales.

Thank you. We are so pleased you enjoyed your break. It's our aim to do our best for our guests during their stay. It's a bonus for us that the Penrhos Arms is so close by. Thanks too for taking the time to give your feedback. Property Owner

..has everything we needed for our short stay. Good communication with owner, letting us know that we could arrive earlier in the day than planned, and also received a nice text during our stay to ask if everything was going well. Excellent for exploring South Snowdonia. Nice meal in the pub opposite.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your break...so important that everything goes well when you manage to snatch a few nights away. • "The cottage was absolutely lovely, it was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed."

Although the listing stated that it backed on to the river, which it did, it read as if this was literally at the back of the property, while it was actually along the road and down steps onto a public footpath which was very narrow and rocky in places. The path also only went a very short way along the bank before you were stopped by a fence with no way through, so had to turn back. This is only a very small criticism though as the cottage is in a lovely area and is a great base to explore further afield. I think it is also worth mentioning that the pub opposite is closed Monday and Tuesday, which again is only a small issue, but might be relevant to some. All in all we had a fabulous time.

Thank you for your feedback Diane. Glad you enjoyed your stay in Cemaes it is indeed a lovely area. We will check out the dog walk along the river with our Spaniel, Connie. Last time we did this we could get right along. There's a possibility you went the long way round to get to the Dyfi. The footpath is 20 yards from Tan Y Gerddi. Thanks for the info about the Penrhos Arms and thanks again for booking. We went to check the footpath to the river right behind Tan Y Gerddi and it is accessible. The grass at the sides have been trimmed back. Thanks again for highlighting this for us and future guests. Hope you visit again. Property Owner

Owners kept in contact by text and areas to walk dogs locally easily found. Very quiet at night, pub locally but not open all the time due to time of year. Its in a lovely location, with a beautiful river behind for a little dog walk or to sit and relax, I swam in it each morning. It's in the middle of everything, just outside Machynlleth, not too far from Dolgellau, beaches are fairly close and completely surrounded by beautiful walks and mountains. Cadair Idris and the best spot to view the Mach Loop is short drive away. It was spotlessly clean and very cosy. We absolutely loved the layout and design of the place, certainly big enough the 2 and a dog. The place had that homey feel, with lots of nice little touches. The bed was very comfy, we had a great night's sleep, the sofas very comfy too. Though the fire isn't real we still enjoyed putting it on when we came in on the wet days, instantly made us feel warmer. The kitchen seemed well equipped but we didn't use it. Instead we went to a fantastic restaurant up up road, The Brigands. We recommend eating here, delicious food and the best lamb. The pub across the road does standard cheap pub grub, their pub garden is the perfect spot of a pint in the sun. The little shop at the end of the road was great for our morning coffees and we stocked up on some lovely local food stuffs to take home. All in all a great holiday at 1 Tan Y Gerddie, I'm hoping to book again!

The river behind the property is glorious, particularly when the sun rises. Don't walk along the bank to the right as its a dead end. The cottage is very clean and well set out. The fire is warm and the sofa very comfortable, though the bed was a bit hard for me. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. The pub is about 80 yards away. Food is good and there's a warm welcome from Shirley and Rhys, and dogs are welcome. Don't park in front of the shop, or you'll get a sharp note from the owner asking you to move. We didn't use the shop, but it looks well stocked. Its about 6 miles to Machynlleth. Market day there is Wednesday. Avoid the Chinese takeaway, truly awful food! The beach at nearby Aberdovey is huge, plenty of parking and a good choice of food there. Would come back.

. Peaceful and quiet. Very cute and comfortable cottage. Lovely comfy big bed, nice bathroom, very clean and well equipped. We couldn't park outside so we just parked out on the main road which was a 30 second walk. We received information prior to arrival about parking which was very helpful. Only thing I would say is make sure you take spare toilet roll with you as when we arrived there was only a little bit on a roll left and the nearest shop is 5 miles away. Otherwise faultless cottage :)
