  • "A lovely bungalow, plenty of space both inside and out."

Beds were very comfy, lots of towels, lots of utensils and crockery. Very much a home from home feel. Children loved the hot tub which was large and under cover. Quiet location despite being next to a road. Pub is directly opposite and lovely, we ate Sunday lunch there, it was delicious. We spent Saturday in Llandrindod Wells, the lake is worth a visit and the high street was full of independent shops, really nice to see. Only slight downside was the cleanliness of the bungalow, hair/fluff/debris in the kitchen drawers and cupboards in particular. There is a hoover at the property so I ended up hoovering the cutlery drawer and wiping down kitchen surfaces. Similar issue in bathroom and shower room. Once cleaned we could enjoy the rest of our stay. Would definitely return in future.

  • "Really lovely place and just what we needed for a relaxing break after a very stressful time."

Loved the log fire and the hot tub, as well as the decent sofas. The kitchen was really nice too, and it was great to have a separate space to enjoy meals and games at the large kitchen table. The only negative was beard hair on the en suite sink, and a few other areas that could have been a little cleaner, but it didn't detract from our stay. Jane was easily contactable and quick to respond and solve any issues. Would definitely recommend.

  • "Lovely place."

It had that home away from home feeling. Had everything that you need. The garden was lovely and secure for the dogs. Hot tub was lovely to go into after a day out exploring and was checked everyday by the owners, but they didn't disturb you to check it but when we did see each other they were very friendly. Found a nice little lay-by breakfast van 4 minutes away, called the yellow snack van, which was a treat to stop at when you was up and out on a day exploring. Already looking at when we can come back and would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The bungalow was very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was lovely to relax in after walking. Kitchen was well equipped and beds very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in front of the log burner which had everything we needed for a couple of roaring fires. Communication with our host was very good and recommendations for places to eat out very much appreciated. There is also plenty of information in the guide book on walks and places to eat out and get a take away from. We would highly recommend staying at New Peny and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Well equipped and a perfect location for travelling to surrounding areas. If could pick one small issue would be the front gates at the drive of the property are slightly raised (I understand the slope of the drive so not sure what could be used to correct) but meant that we had to ensure dogs were secure on leads to not escape. Everything you need for a holiday is within the property. Thank you

  • "Wow! What a stunning bungalow!"

Myself and my family have just returned from the New Peny after spending Christmas there. The bungalow was spotless, it was well equipped with absolutely everything you can think of! All the rooms were so beautifully finished, and the hot tub was a huge luxury and nicely placed under a veranda. The property is well secured for your fury friends, my 2 dogs loved a good run around! The property was very accessible for wheelchair users, making our stay for my dad so much more simpler. My children wanted to live there and didn't want to leave!! They loved it! The bungalow is in a picturesque village of Penybont with a very friendly pub/restaurant across the road at the Severn Arms, everything you need within 5-10 minutes drive. Jane the owner is incredibly accomodating and friendly, always on hand for anything you need. Would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend this beautiful bungalow.

  • "A fantastic property - probably my favourite."

My only advice would be that the ensuite bathroom needs a little bit of work as it smells of sewerage. Maybe the property needs a little bit of paint and a new rug in the front room - these are minor criticisms however - i have stayed here before a few years previous so i compare it to than. Comforting, cosy, clean - a super kitchen and dining area - lovely outdoors area - brilliant hot tub although i miss seeing the stars as there is a wooden structure ... i personally like to look up. Lovely dog walks, nice locals - I love the property so much i wish i could buy and live there permanently.

Hi the mat changes colour which ever was you brush it Turned it upside down on the wooden floor and no dirt to be found , By the way my current guests wouldnt let me change it Had the sewer line jetted and no sign of any blockage or odour Thanks for your repeat visit will let you know if we ever sell the property Many thanks Jane Property Owner

  • "The property itself was absolutely stunning - it is large, spacious and the outside area is fantastic."

We had issues with the cleanliness - the rug in the front room was dirty, there was chocolate and ice cream wrappers in between the sofa cushions, under the bed was thick with hair and dirt. The extractor fan in the kitchen was also dirty. We also found that our hot tub was not checked even though the booklet in the property states it will be checked twice a day… Unfortunately we did not find the beds comfortable (this is a personal thing and in no way the owner of the properties fault). Due to this, we had a few sleepless nights. Overall, the property is lovely but needs to be maintained better.

Thank you for your comments The rug in the front room has been mentioned to us before and since your stay , If you brush the wool in different directions it changes colour , That be said we thought it would be much easier to change it . We ordered a new mat which turned up this friday afternoon , went to new penny to change it and the current guests had already arrived and checked the original mat and were more than happy with it Regarding the sweet wrappers , we dont have many children staying but we did the week before your stay so this did catch us out The beds are all on legs and well up off wooden floors dust does build up during the week especially when pets are in the house The extractor fan is there for a reason and does its job Wayne checks the hot tub at around 3 am when he leaves for work and again in the afternoon Hope this clears up your concerns Jane Property Owner

Two suggestions maybe have a blackboard showing when the man has been to the hot tub - as a person who doesnt really want to be seen in her swimsuit it would be nice to know if you've been out if the hot tub has been looked at and you can get in without being disturbed. Also, there were a lot of flies in the kitchen - I know there are Sheep not far so can't be helped but the kitchen needs a better fly trap or killer, the garden was safe but because of my tiny Pomeranian there were gaps she could have escaped through - but they loved running around and around - all in all we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. beds very comfy and loved my en-suite

It was a family stay of 5 adults and our dog to celebrate a big birthday. The location is near a junction which was a little noisy with bank holiday traffic but you couldn't really notice it when inside the property. The bungalow is bigger than it looks in the photos, very well equipped and well maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners have obviously gone to a lot of trouble with all aspects of the fixture, furnishings and decor. They also provided a selection of welcome items which was a nice touch. The kitchen-diner was an excellent entertaining space for our family meals. The large garden was loved by our little dog and safe enough with the secured gates to allow him some freedom to roam. The large hot tub was a joy to relax in. We had a lovely time, thanks very much. Would definitely book again.

However, we didn't have any extra towels provided for hot tub use (or told we need to bring extra) do we ended up washing a lot. There also didn't seem to be enough crockery, glassware or a bread knife? The kitchen had loads of flies which was pretty annoying. Overall it was ok, but we wouldn't come back. It was too close to the neighbours for us too as we felt we needed to be quiet in the hot tub which wasn't really us!

Thank you for your comments regarding Newpeny, There where extra towels in the utility room which had not be used The property sleeps 6 but there is enough matching crockery for 8 plus extra (not matching) if you have guests. and all different type of glasses inc plastic ones for the hot tub The fly issue is not normally a problem as their is a electric fly catcher and is clean out after every stay and there where several fly in there which in the past has only happened when there are used crockery left in the kitchen The hot tub is located at the rear of the property and is well secluded and as never upset anyone Many Thanks Jane Property Owner

It is extremely well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Everything is of good quality: furniture, bed and linen, shower, hot tub. The only negative - we felt cold in the sitting room and needed to use the blankets to keep warm. We didn’t use the wood burner due to asthma, but even if we could have used it, it would not have helped the chill when we got up in the morning or when we returned from visits. We did have a breakage with the bed in the master en suite and it was rectified the day after the break. Fantastic garden, that was perfect for our dog. Big high hedges and the gates are at least 6 feet high and very secure. Grass kept short for the fur babies, so short that we even had our dogs agility course on it with no problems. Hot tub was spotlessly clean. You could tell it had been scrubbed within an inch of its life. All nice pots, pans and plates provided. Big dishwasher which is always a bonus for our family and any big family that wants to go. A nice rack of games provided too.. Chess, pack of cards, snakes and ladders. Tv only Freesat but decent. Netflix can be logged into. WiFi not great but meh you're on holiday. Nice quiet road, shop 10 minutes away with fuel too. Everything provided for you. Hair dryer , Iron, clothes rail. Penybont common is much bigger than I expected, and was great for family walks away from crowds. The house was very well equipped, though we would usually do some baking on a holiday and were glad we took our own kitchen scales and a sieve. It was rare to find that there was plenty of cupboard space for food, and the fridge freezer was a large one. The beds were very comfortable. I like to have pure cotton sheets, but so many places use polyester cotton that we had taken our own. It wasn't an issue for our group, but for families with young children it is worth knowing that the en suite bedroom is away from the other bedrooms. We throughly enjoyed our week (23 Aug -30th Aug) and had fantastic sunny weather apart from 1 day. We went across to the Severn arms to the charity event they were hosting to watch the lumberjack show and the sheep shearing competition. It was great fun and we enjoyed a few drinks in the beer garden. There are lots of great walks in the area... look on google maps for Water break it’s neck, and the Shaky Bridge walk which starts at the lake in Llandrindod Wells. We drove to Devils bridge to see the waterfalls, it’s a very nice drive out and only took us around 45 mins. We did all our own cooking at the property, if you need provisions for your stay there’s a Tesco supermarket and an Aldi in town, about 5 miles away. We spent a lot of time playing outdoor games at the back of the property as a family and we felt safe with our dog just roaming around as the property was fully enclosed. One day we had no hot water, a quick text message to the owner and this was sorted in 5 minutes. We had a really enjoyable stay and recommend the New Peny to those wanting to stay in this area. Many thanks to Jane, Gwyn and family from the Browns.

  • "Short of mirrors in all bedrooms, wardrobes only in two of the four bedrooms only six hangers, Jacuzzi not available to use on the first night no hooks to hang towels on and No light to see your way from the Jacuzzi to the house."

We had to ask for wood for the fire when it came it was damp and No bucket for the ashes. No clothes maiden for the items we couldn't put in the dryer, to turn the heating on I had to climb on the worktop open a cupboard in order to press a boost button to have the heating on, there is no books or board games or dvd player which would have been good as there was no Wi-Fi for t first night, there were two Chinese menus but when it came to order the food we found one had been closed down for a while and the other wasn't open with no reason, we feel it would have useful if the owner had noticed this.

Thank you for your comments following your stay with us,We where overwhelmed by the issues you had so i have gone through the list to address your concerns 1. Mirrors. Their are mirrors in both double rooms and ensuite ,main bathroom and ensuite bathroom, only single room as no mirror 2. Wardrobes. We are waiting delivery of wardrobes for other rooms but their is ample draw space avalible 3. Hangers. Their are six hangers per wardrobe and spares in the utility cupboard 4. Hot tube . We change the water every time we change guests the previous guests left at around 10am and you arrived around 3 pm ,It take about 12 hours for the tube to get to temperature This was explained to you on arrival and you confirmed that it was fine 5. Hocks for towels . Their is a ledge on two sides of the hot tub which is with in the roof area so they wont get wet even if it is raining ,also towels can be draped over the hot tube cover 6. No lights . The hot tube is well lit in the roof space and on the front of the roof facing the property ,Its about ten steps from the tube to the french doors , fully paved and no obstacles such as steps or shrub areas 7. No fire wood . It was a oversight by us that their was no wood available but it was addressed straight away ,It may of been damp on the surface but is kilned dried so doesnt effect it to much , We have had such a long dry hot spell and where not so well prepared for the heavy rain and temperature drop 8. Ash bucket. Their are 2 ash buckets 1 behind wall out side french doors and 1 by recycle bins 9.Cloths maiden . Their is a free standing rail in the main bathroom which could be moved to where ever suited 10. Heating controls. We where advised by are electrician to put the controls out of the reach of children ,It is located in a standard height kitchen wall cupboard 11. Wifi . We suffered thunder and lightening strikes which upset the wifi in the village which we had no control over but was put right the next day ,TV was working fine 12. Chinese restaurants .
