  • "Pros Comfortable house."

Bit small than what it looks in the photos. Kitchen is usable & fridge is big with good storage. Cons 1. The place smells in the garden (p.s it is not the house that smells, its the area). It was so strong through the week (in Aug) that kids couldn't stand the smell and weren't able to play in the garden. 2. TVs are too small in the room 3. The carpets are bit old & makes creaking sound when one walks - with needles coming out at the place where the carpet meets the wooden door (my daughter hurt her leg & we advised her to wear crocs ).

  • "Great property."

Catered for everyone needs. Good information in the property listing nearby attractions. We had a great time, and the kids loved the garden. Was in such a lovely friendly area also.

The cottage was beautiful well decorated, and very comfy beds. It was such a shame the weather didn't let us enjoy the garden but it didn't dampen our spirits. The welcome tray was a nice surprise we couldn't of asked for anything more thankyou to our hosts Tracy and Andrew.

  • "The property was even better than the listing."

The bedrooms were spacious and well decorated. The interior of the cottage was impeccable and very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we required for a 3 week stay. Plenty of outdoor space and seating to admire the views.

  • "It was a beautiful little place, plenty of room and space and great facilities."

We did find the kitchen flooring was very loose and when we hoovered, it sucked the link up and left a little mark. Be careful if you're a "clean before you leave" person.

  • "The property was very well equipped, clean and comfortable."

The bedroom's décor was nicely co-ordinated. The beds were comfy. There is plenty of outdoor space and garden furniture. There wasn't anything we found we needed that wasn't at the property. The area is convenient for the coast. We enjoyed Powfoot, Southerness and Rockcliffe beaches. There is an Italian restaurant in Annan, La Fortuna which was good. There is a large Tesco in Annan. Clatteringshaws Loch has a cafe and lovely views. I would recommend the Boathouse at Glencaple and the Nith Hotel. You need to book in advance for the restaurant at the Powfoot Hotel, it was full during our week in Brydekirk, in fact it was worth booking ahead for most places. A very enjoyable stay.

The pictures don't do the house justice, it's lovely and well furnished. Well situated with Annan, Dumfries,Carlisle and Gretna nearby. Wouldn't hesitate to come back.

  • "Tarnacrye was a lovely property."

It was like a tardis, the inside so spacious, three double bedrooms and all have a tv, our bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely lounge diner with patio doors to outside space and a lawned area and a well equiped kitchen. Every room was spotlessly clean and a nice welcome pack on arrival. It was one of the best properties, if not the best we have stayed at. Tracy and Andrew clearly care about their property and their guests. Highly recommend.

Enjoying an all ground-floor layout, this property can sleep up to six guests in three bedrooms, and has an excellent garden, which wraps around the property.

Enter through the side entrance and into the kitchen where you can find all you need for a self-catered stay - you can pack light thanks to the handy washing machine, and not worry about washing up with a dishwasher, as well as an electric oven and hob for those home-cooked family favourites.

Dine in the open-plan living and dining room before settling down for the evening on the sofa and armchairs to watch TV.

Enjoy making use of the lovely garden with several areas to it, you can find your favourite spot, whether it's sat at the picnic bench in the slate gravelled area to the side for alfresco lunches, the raised patio leading from the kitchen with plenty of outdoor dining furniture to sit with an evening drink, or the large lawn space which is perfect for kids to run around on.

The ground-floor layout lends itself well to those with limited mobility, with three delightful bedrooms to choose from; the master bedroom has a double bed and benefits from an en-suite bathroom with a ¾ bath with a shower over, there is a second double bedroom, and finally a twin bedroom - all rooms have their own TVs, whilst the latter two are served by the family shower room.

Discover the heritage of Annan in Annan Museum, while rainy days can take you to Lonsdale Cinema to catch a film.

The Annandale Distillery lies just outside the centre and produces a fine single malt whiskey and you can see how it's made by going on a tour around the distillery and receiving a few tasters along the way too.

Head to Westlands Country Park to enjoy a spot of fishing for any keen anglers out there, with two ponds stocked with local rainbow, blue and tiger trout and a shooting range on site too with taster lessons available for beginners.

Over towards Dumfries is Caerlaverock Castle, one of Scotland's great medieval fortresses, surrounded by a moat and boasting a twin towered gatehouse, it is home to a lovely tearooms.

About the location

ANNAN

Dumfries 15.7 miles; Carlisle 20 miles

The town of Annan, a former harbour, lies on the banks of the River Annan, in East Dumfries and Galloway, and is steeped in history, with the area once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle. Each year, the town celebrates the Riding of the Marches, in honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V, which involves parades, massed pipe bands and competitions. The area around Annan has many small towns, picture postcard villages and hamlets, plus beautiful unspoilt coastline, with sandy beaches and hidden coves. Visit nearby Caerlaverock Castle, one of Scotland's finest ruined castles or Annandale Distillery. Take a day trip and marvel at the majestic architecture of the grand abbeys of Melrose and Jedburgh or visit the northern Lake District and the historic Hadrian’s Wall. Annan is an ideal base for exploring this lovely area.
