Shops and restaurants and pubs in the immediate area very nice. With also the Co-op a short walk away. Every thing we needed. Lovely site being on the Falls. Would return.

  • "The first thing to say about the cabin is, wow, the location."

Absolutely stunning, so close to the river and the falls. They aren't joking when they say the river runs by the back garden. Sitting by the patio doors watching and listening to the river was heaven. The hosts are very welcoming, lots of info available about local walks and on hand if you need anything. The welcome gift was lovely. The cabin is quite spacious and very cosy with the log burner. Has everything you could need.

Thank you Laura. We're glad that you enjoyed your few days with us even if the weather was less than welcoming! The one big advantage of rain is that it does make the falls even more spectacular. Mike & Jan Property Owner

  • "We did have a lovely time at Milmore."

The cabin itself is set a little back from the owners property so no one feels intruded upon, which is lovely. The cabin itself was comfortable and roomy for the two of us and our two biggish dogs. The garden was brilliant, we all loved it. The end of the garden is literally on the Falls of Dochart, and you can see the Dochart River from the living room. Even though it was quite chilly I did spend an amount of time on the verandah drinking a coffee and just taking in the natural sounds. The kitchen was a little small for us, but reality was we were not cooking, eating out. Best place to eat out in order of quality and service, Courie Inn, Killin Hotel, Falls of Dochart Inn and Capercaillie. By the way the Falls of Dochart Inn does a doggie food bowl, chicken, venison and veg in the one we had for our dogs. They loved it! A bit of a novelty. The Courie Inn was exceptional. Wish we had that as our local. Some really nice walks from the Cabin. Mike and Jan, the hosts, met us and introduced us to the cabin, and were there if we needed. Thanks for the hosepipe! It was needed.

Thank you for your kind words and guide to the local hostelries! Property Owner

Although some of the interior is quite dated, the cottage itself is spacious and very comfortable and set in beautiful grounds. It is within easy walking distance into Killin itself and we found plenty of walks nearby to take our dog Rosie on. Finally Mike and Jan the owners are very friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Millmore Cottage as a place to stay.

The cabin is cosy in a brilliant location with country walks, pubs and a food shop all within walking distance. We enjoyed walks to Loch Tay, in the local woodland and Dochart Falls are on the doorstep. We also enjoyed food at the Falls of Dochart Inn. Mike and Jan are really welcoming and helpful and even got up super early in our departure day to help us out in the snow - very much over and above! They were very helpful with suggestions of local walks etc but not at all intrusive. The cabin is super warm and cosy with all the comforts you could need and the log burner to relax in front after a walk was bliss! I can’t recommend Millmore Cabin highly enough and I hope we will return one day.

Thank you for your kind review and we're glad that you enjoyed your few days, even with the snow and ice making conditions more challenging than usual. We hope to see you again. Happy New Year! Jan & Mike Property Owner

  • "Lovely snug property, with wonderful views in an excellent location."

We hardly used our car all week, but we're still able to do a variety walks across a mix or terrain. Very useful porch for / lobby for drying people / hounds and hanging walking gear etc. I was a bit concerned about it being a cabin before we went as I was anticipating bad weather and due to it not being a "house" thought we may get chilly. I was right about the weather, wrong about the cabin. We were very cosy and comfortable. The location also gives a brilliant mix of being peaceful and secluded, whilst not being "cut off". We were able to walk to a decent sized shop easily and also never lost our 'phone signal - which we needed on this occasion. The owners made both ourselves and our hounds very welcome - just the right level of contact. Excellent introduction to the cabin and then left us to it - however we were very comfortable that had there been an issue they would have been there. All in all a lovely holiday and the property was excellent value for money - we hope to go back.

Thank you very much for your comments, they are much appreciated. Although it did rain more than might have been expected, hopefully the impressiveness of the falls in full flow made up a little bit for this. Property Owner

The cabin was really comfortable and cosy in February, and had everything I needed for a self catering stay. There's no WiFi but I always had a phone signal (3 network) for streaming music, sending messages etc. The garden grounds are beautiful, with the river running along the bottom of the garden. You even have a great view of the river from the living room, which is very relaxing. There are people who dream and hope this new destination for them is exactly for them. There are watchers, waiters, wanderers and wonderers. This place, this space in Killin ticks boxes all the way from sunrise to nod-off time. Its a place that's so good you just wonder why you aren't living there all the time .. and so then why travel to have a holiday! • "I can honestly say that the people themselves were lovely , but for a family to go there for the amount they were charging was ridiculous."

The cleanliness itself was very poor. I brought my own coffee as I’m very picky , well thank the lord I did , as there wasn’t enough as a bottle off water in the cabin to greet us. My husband had to clean everything in the cabin before use. I wanted to say something at the time but my husband asked me not to as he was craving for this holiday as like us all we need it in these terrible times we are living in. I can honestly say tho for where it was situated felt like heaven. I actually saw a red squirrel

We are sorry that Mr & Mrs Cullen were not happy and felt the need to score us so low. This is our first season with Sykes Cottages. The price charging has been determined by the Sykes Cottages pricing team. They are the experts in this field and they are, after all, managing the holiday let on our behalf. On the point of not having provided coffee or even being a bottle of water in the fridge, this is because we are not permitted to provide anything like this under the Covid restrictions. Equally, we had to remove all cushions, books (except for the property handbook), DVDs, toys etc. Rest assured, once the restrictions are eased, we intend to provide a welcome pack for all guests. On the point of cleanliness, we use a firm of cleaners. You will note from other reviews that cleanliness has not been an issue in the past. Mrs Cullen's comments have been passed on to the cleaning firm. We understand that it has been a very difficult seventeen months and we want our guests to enjoy the peace and quiet, the wildlife and the view of the Falls of Dochart that Millmore Cabin provides. This is why we ask all our guests to let us know if there is anything that they need when they arrive. An issue with the cleanliness would have been straightforward to deal with at the time, as would explaining about the lack of coffee and bottled water.' Property Owner

Situated in the village of Killin, Millmore Cabin is a delightful single storey lodge surrounded by picturesque countryside, overlooking the magnificent Falls of Dochart.

Entry to the property is via a porchway, which offers hanging space for coats and storage for shoes and boots.

From here, head into the cosy living room, which offers one sofa and two armchairs to relax in.

There is a woodburning stove that will fill the room with heat on the chillier evenings.

A sliding door opens onto the patio and adjoining decking giving spectacular views of the River Dochart that flows by at the edge of the lawn.

From here you can enjoy sitting on the patio or decking with a glass of wine and spot the local wildlife, including red squirrel, heron, otter, pine marten, woodpecker as well as some of the local ducks.

The wood panelled walls of the dining room and galley kitchen give the space an authentic feel, and the dining table is a great place to gather together to enjoy a home-cooked meal together.

The property is well placed in the centre of the village, with a host of amenities, restaurants, pubs and cafés just a short walk away, as well as notable attractions like the magnificent waterfall of the Falls Of Dochart, Clan McNabb Burial Grounds and the Dochart Viaduct.

About the location

KILLIN

Aberfeldy 22 miles; Pitlochry 36 miles; Perth 44 miles.

The village of Killin, on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, in the area of Breadalbane, sits across the stunning Falls of Dochart and has been settled since ancient times. Cup markings on rocks and stone circles tell of an ancient race that inhabited this area. Christianity came to Breadalbane in the 8th century with St Fillan with the Mill bearing his name and St Fillan’s Day held on the 3rd Tuesday in January. The village is strongly associated with two renowned clans, Clan Campbell and Clan MacNab. Finlarig Castle, to the north of the village, was the Campbell stronghold and the MacNabs have their ancient burial ground of Inchbuie near the bridge over the falls. Killin today is a popular tourist destination, due in no small part to the use of the falls in various films and television programmes. The village today has a varied selection of shops, bars and restaurants and watersports are available on nearby Loch Tay. Ideal for walking, Killin has Ben Lawers, the highest of the surrounding Bens, to the north and Ben More and Stobinian to the west.
