  • "We've stayed here before."

It's great. Perfect for our needs. Short drive to Ambleside and Grasmere for restaurants. Having access to the small pool/sauna also good. Wifi is fine.

  • "Lovely little place in an absolutely beautiful setting."

Walked from the door everyday, never moved the car. Some of the information in the apartment could do with updating - out of date information about WiFi access was a time waster. Would much rather have a good WiFi connection rather than all the other many devices and electronics that we didn't use. This would also perhaps free up some space in the bedroom that was a little cramped, and could do with a smaller bed frame to fit the limited space better. None of these things would stop me returning though. I would definitely stay here again. Loved it.

  • "Wonderful views and walking ftom the door."

Clean and comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful. All that we needed. Washing up liquid would have been helpful so we didn't need to use the dishwasher for just a few items eg after breakfast in the last morning. Also, there were only two dessert spoons . And it was very difficult to find on the first evening especially as it was dark! Otherwise a perfect few days. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind and helpful comments on our lovely apartment. Sorry you could not find washing up liquid. I have checked to ensure that there is some washing under the sink as usual. There is always a spare supply in the apartment. I find it relaxing doing the washing up in the evening with the lights on the rock face in front of the kitchen window. We have always had a good supply of cutlery in Ramblers Rest. The missing items have been located and returned to the cutlery drawer. I think some items may have been taken out for a walk on the fells! Ramblers Rest should be easy to find as we have the largest private parking space at Neaum Crag Court clearly marked with a Lakelovers sign. The roads are narrow in the area as most are in the scenic parts of the Lake District. A sign has been put up by the estate manager on the approach road to help visitors. One of the attractions of Ramblers Rest and Neaum Crag is that the estate is wonderfully secluded which is why it is such a beautiful tranquil location for a holiday Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Rambles Rest, it’s a cosy bolt hole with spectacular views."

Great walks from the property, no need to move the car except for shopping in Ambleside. Only down side was the pub in Skelworth Bridge. We’ve already booked again!

  • "The apartment is the end one of 6 in well established woods, but with open views mainly towards the right overlooking the mountains."

Glorious location. Plenty of wild life to watch from window : Ducks from a small pond at bottom of open grassy area. Blue tits great tits coal tits in abundance on small tree by window. Great Spotted Woodpecker, Song Thrush etc seen. A roe deer made a brief appearance before jumping over wall to the right. Also saw a buck deer in grounds further down. Lots of the owners' interesting books to read. Scrabble to play. TV in lounge and another one in the bedroom. Selection of Dvds of films etc if you have time. Kitchen area well supplied to meet any food requirements. We enjoyed revisiting an area of outstanding beauty and would hope to stay again at Ramblers Rest.

  • "Lakelovers are not accurately describing this property."

Nor are they honest with their customers. Received an email 45 mins before check in advising that the dishwasher was broken and an engineer was coming out. On speaking with the owner, it’s been broken for months. I also enquired with LL when the pool house would reopen, to be told that Lakelovers have nothing to do with the pool. Again on speaking with the owner it’s been closed since before we booked but yet Lakelovers are quite happy to list this as a feature. The property is also not being cleaned properly. Shower curtain mouldy, kitchen cupboards, walls and skirting are filthy and the cleaners are just wiping round strong bleach which is overpowering when you enter the door. The location is good, the views are lovely, and if advertised accurately, you’d know what to expect. All in all, the location is what’s great about this property, the bonus of a washing machine and piping hot water. Shame on Lakelovers for not working for the owner effectively. I’d stay at the property again if it was advertised elsewhere but won’t book with LL again.

  • "Lovely setting and views."

Kitchen very well equipped. Very confusing messages from owners. Listing said no Wi-fi, but found 3 different instructions and codes for Wi-fi, one of which worked. Far too many tv and music gadgets, 8 remote controls in lounge, 5 in bedroom. Unnecessary and confusing. Handwritten labels everywhere, some in odd places. Two Wi-fi routers sellotaped to side of cupboard, both of which had fallen off. So many gadgets and boxes that the cleaners could not dust them. Bedroom most difficult, very large wood furniture in small room made it difficult to move around, also a lot of owners property in bedroom, under bed, in drawers and on top of wardrobe.

  • "Excellent cottage."

Great for 2 people. Everything you could need. We had no problems with the wifi : it was great (20Mbps+). Walks from the door. Handy for Grasmere and Ambleside.

  • "Bedroom crowded and dangerous."

No space to move around bedroom. Several bruises. Owners belongings too much. Bow saw next to bed. Apartment too cluttered

  • "It was really difficult to get the router for WiFi to work and with no mobile signal I relied on it."

It was only because someone from Lakelovers came to sort out an unrelated problem that it worked. My holiday would have been very difficult without WiFi. I found the instructions confusing. At one point I lost some of the electricity which meant someone from Lakelovers coming out - it took ages to get through on the phone which made me feel anxious and I was then put on hold again. This electricity problem may never have happened before but it would have been easy to just put a note in the information as the answer was simple and would have saved Lakelovers a call out! I found the property to be quite cluttered up with the owners belongings. The key to the front door needed a knack which I didn’t possess so I had to use the patio door key which worked fine. On a more positive note the location is gorgeous with many walks from the door and close to the beautiful Loughrigg Tarn.

  • "Although the apartment was advertised with Wifi, we quickly learnt this was not the case."

We contacted the office who in turn contacted the owner, who acknowledged that there was no Wifi. This was important to us as I have mobility problems and on rest days need access to the internet. The office said that if we paid foe BT wifi they would refund us.We had to pay for this in two packages, a 5 day package and a 1 day package. We have had the five days reimbursed, but are still waiting for £7.99 for the last day of the stay. The office staff were very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay work for us.

Had a horrendous head cold all week so couldn't do much walking as planned but the settee was a good place to be with choice of books, CDs and TV. Surrounded by wildlife.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
