  • "The location and the views from the property were as amazing as we'd hoped."

Overall the property was comfortable and well equipped with good off-road parking and walks from the door. We did notice a rather off-putting smell in the kitchen, particularly when the door had been closed. We couldn't work out where it was coming from so resorted to leaving the kitchen window open when we were in and closing the internal door. The conservatory doesn't have any ventilation (window locked and no key), there is an area of damp and the cushions on the furniture were going mouldy. The towels also smelled like they had been put away damp, but they were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The left hand side of the toaster was broken and some areas of the house needed more of a deep clean, eg, the blind in the shower room is quite grubby and the toilet brush in the loo is rusting around the top. The information folder referred to instructions for the bins being located in the kitchen which we couldn't find. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would probably return due to the excellent location.

  • "This was our 2nd time staying at Windrush and it certainly didn't disappoint."

We will be booking again for 2024 once we know dates. The property feels like our home and we are comfortable while staying there. The property is well maintained and a pure delight to rest and enjoy. The only matter which needs to be looked at is lighting for outside. This is a real health and safety issues especially in winter when there is snow and ice.

  • "Lovely property with an incredible view."

My only criticism would be the shower (and I'm being picky!). But its quite a step to get into and out of the bath and less mobile people may struggle a little. Everything else was great!

  • "A good sized, light and bright property with stunning views across to Applethwaite!"

! Plenty of comfy sofas. Bed was really comfy, we used the front bedroom rather than the master because of the fabulous views. Kitchen was well equipped but needs a new cheese grater. The garden is smaller than I expected but the dogs didn't mind, however, its on 2 levels (noted in description) a bit steep but has a lovely summer house at the top. For those with furry friends, the garden was very secure. A schedule for bin collection would be extremely useful as we missed the collection and the bin was full when we arrived.

We had everything we needed inside the property, it was clean, comfortable, spacious and very well maintained. An ideal location with Keswick being a 15 minute walk away. We were sorry we had to leave and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

  • "Lovely house and perfect location however it does need freshening up with a kick of paint as some of the walls and doors are starting to look a little grubby."

Also the garage door needs replacing as it’s bowed at the top so leaves a gap.

  • "Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home."

We all really enjoyed our stay at Windrush - a very warm and comfortable house well equipped with everything we needed. It is in a quiet location with amazing panoramic views across the valley towards Skiddaw. Staying at Portinscale was ideal for exploring the Northern Lakes and having a very good local pub and cafe was a bonus. Easy walk into Keswick and not too far to walk to the Lake Derwentwater. We just love this area. Thank you for the milk, bread and biscuits - they were very much appreciated. Just a note - the outside lights were not working and as the darker nights are here, they may be needed. Everything else was great and we would definitely like to return.

..really comfortable, clean, and what a view! Portinscale is a perfect place to enjoy the northern lakes and stunning walks. Would highly recommend The Pheasant in Keswick. ..the steak pie was excellent and great service, as was the Farmers Arms in the village. Breakfast at The Chalet was superb...sitting in the sunshine was a great start to a walking day. (One small thing...could have done with simple instructions on how to turn on the oven...just hand written in your blue folder, but please don't be offended everything else was spot on). Thank you..and for the welcome items. Perfect.

Open fire photographed and discussed in your description of property did not exist. This was very disappointing as it was a cold wet week in October and we were looking forward to cosy nights round the fire.

Thank you for your feedback and glad to hear you had a great week at Windrush. Unfortunately the fire photographed was deemed unusable due to the Chimney Flue before we went LIVE with bookings. The owners have since put in place an electric wood burner to try and gain the cosy atmosphere a fire would bring. Property Owner

Such a same that the towels/ bedding had been washed in some scented products, not great for people who react to artificial perfumes. The sunroom was very handy to come into after a walk, though we were lucky that we had no rain, so did not get the full benefit.

We have used Lakelovers / Sykes / Heart of the Lakes for many years and feel that you are showing no loyalty to regular customers. In the past we have had no hesitation in recommending your cottages but would think twice at the inflated prices.

Its is elevated giving it everchanging views across the valley depending on the time of year.

The scenery of the north western Lake District is just beautiful and Buttermere Valley is only a short drive away.

There are numerous walks from the door the lake on your doorstep. To the front of the cottage there is a pretty garden and a driveway with parking for two cars.

On opening the front door you’ll find a bright sitting room with great view and this follows through to the dining area.
