Yew Tree cottage is great for walks from the door, near to a reliable bus service ( so no need to fight for parking in Keswick, at Derwent Water or at the start of walks) and has a great cafe next door. Bring the weather and you’re all set up for a great stay.

It is so comfortable with lots of extra touches which make it special. We loved the comfy beds, multiple bathrooms and especially the boot/utility room. So sympathetically renovated and cleverly put together. The welcome pack was one of the best we have encountered and the house was absolutely spotless and cosy when we arrived. We walked from the door every day. I can't think of anything I would change or add. Fabulous!! It is the perfect Lakeland retreat. We will definitely come back!!

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and we do hope we can welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

Tastefully renovated, combining it's rich heritage with all the comforts and conveniences of modern living. Really generous and comfortable beds and a real bonus having 3 spotless bathrooms ! No queues ! Having the boot room for all our gear was brilliant and it also was a great place to store our food supplies as we were a group of 4 and all keen cooks! The welcome pack of tasty local produce and the voucher for the Flock Inn café was a lovely gesture and much appreciated by us all !

We have stayed at Yew Tree Cottage twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday both times. The cottage is finished to a really high standard, and is clean and very comfortable. The layout is perfect, with the back door opening into the utility room it's great for wet weather days with a space for rain coats and walking boots. The kitchen has everything you could need and the lounge / dining room is comfortable, spacious and cosy with the log burner going. The bathrooms are clean and lovely, and the bedrooms really comfy. We stayed with 4 adults and a toddler, and the nice wide stairs are great for little ones too - she had a lot of fun practicing her climbing skills! The very thoughtful card and hamper was a really nice touch too which we really appreciated. The area is just breathtaking, with lovely walks all around from the cottage and a few nice pubs nearby. We would highly recommend Yew Tree Cottage!

We were really impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage and the way it is kitted out - the kitchen is small but perfectly formed and had everything we needed, including a new coffee machine, thank you! The utility room is fab for keeping coats and walking boots and wetsuits out of the way and the bathrooms are fitted with really good quality showers and fittings. The beds are comfy and the welcome pack provided was very soon demolished after our long drive. It's a gorgeous garden too, we were so lucky with the weather and it was great to be able to sit out with the view and a cold drink after a hot day's walking. All in all, we really enjoyed our week in Yew Tree Cottage.

Yew Tree Cottage is exceptional and so very special. The setting itself is perfect, the views are breath taking with numerous walks from the door, that with planning can incorporate both tearooms and pubs. The enclosed garden is a joy to sit in and take in the atmosphere that the Borrowdale Valley offers, peace and tranquillity. The cottage is so cosy and the utility room is a blessing if you take your four legged best friend with you for drying them down. Fabulous welcome hamper and dog treats too. I can honestly say that this is the best cottage that we've ever stayed in and it certainly raised the bar for any other cottages we may look at in the future and lastly, don't forget to look at the night sky!

Fabulous location - walks galore from your doorstep and a pub up the road - and also right near a bus stop. Would definitely return. If you're looking for constructive feedback, the things we would note given the 4 star rating are: 1. Needs a bigger fridge - this is a cottage for 5 people - the fridge wasn't big enough for two of us. 2. Needs a DVD player. 3. Needs more than 3 loo rolls if more than 2 people are staying. 4. Needs a new frying pan. 5. Albeit the thought of a welcome pack was very much appreciated (and unexpected), we're vegan so having dairy milk and non-vegan products left for us wasn't great - just needs more consideration.

I forgot to add the bed configuration on the booking so called to give this and the customer service lady couldn't have been more helpful. We had an amazing stay and felt very lucky to have secured 4 nights at a relatively late stage. Loved the welcome gifts. Cottage was very comfortable, beds were lovely (husband wants a new mattress at home now!), all very well equipped. The drying/boot room is an extremely handy space for storage. Great walks straight out of the door, very quiet at night apart from the owls. The garden is pretty dog secure as long as you have a dog that won't jump over an approx 4ft wall, we pulled the garden bench away from the wall so our hound wouldn't even consider it but if you have an escapologist for a dog then it might be a bit more tricky.
