A perfect base for us to explore Glen Urquhart & Glen Affric.

  • "Lovely comfy big cottage."

Plenty of space for up to 6 adults or children. Shame we weren't warned the dishwasher didn't work, several days of wasted attempts to use it. We didn't find out it was broken until we met the cleaning team as we left! Also care needed on the approach track with little room for mistakes. Still worth recommending a visit.

  • "The cottage was beautiful as described and the welcome pack was really lovely after a long drive."

The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped, everything that you would want. The surrounding are was outstanding, so much to do and see. Only one thing I would suggest is that a grab rail in the shower would be helpful to those less mobile like myself and perhaps a stool in the bathroom as there is plenty of room for one. Other than the above suggestion I cannot fault the cottage. A lovely peaceful place to stay.

A couple of things need fixing - blocked shower drain and broken sofa legs. But otherwise, a fabulous cottage in a great location. Will definitely book again.

  • "Beautiful, well-appointed property."

Very clean and comfortable. The area is peaceful. Birdsong, along with the rush of the water from the burn running on the other side of the (very narrow) access road, helped make it even more relaxing. The kitchen is large and has everything you need to prepare meals. The clothes washer and dryer are easy to use and if the weather is cooperative, there is a line to dry your clothes as well. It was just the two of us, so there was more than enough room. I imagine it would be just as comfortable for a family or a small group. We didn't use the byre, but did peek inside and found it very charming. As it was March, we used the wood burner in the sitting room a couple of nights, which made for a nice cosy environment. The bed was very comfortable and hearing the rushing water through the closed window lulled us easily to sleep. Shower room is large and water pressure is wonderful. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in the afternoon, as the sun really warmed it up quite nicely. Parking is ample, but the access road is narrow, which has been mentioned, so be aware of this if you have a larger vehicle. Otherwise, it's perfect! Short drive (or approximately a 20 minute walk) to Drumnadrochit where you can find a Scotmid Coop, a few restaurants and a petrol station. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a nice, peaceful place to spend their holiday.

  • "Lovely clean cottage and everything you could need."

A lovely welcome pack Also. The log burners are lovely especially for the cold nights. I loved spending the afternoon reading away in the sun room. I would only say that the road up is very tight and not suitable for large vehicles.

  • "This cottage is absolutely idyllic, quiet, tidy, a nice welcome pack, great location for visiting the area, everything we need to cook, the washing machine, tumble dryer and wood burner are very appreciated after a muddy hike in the area."

Beds are really comfortable, house is very nicely decorated. Special mention for all the tiny Nessies and other above the wood burners.. Everything we need is in the guiding book Just a tiny small comment: we tried to use the kitchen wood burner but the mechanical draft for the smoke evacuation didn’t work and the fire alarm was triggered, we evacuate the smoke as we could but it could be very panicking for people who doesn’t know how to deal with wood burner, maybe it’s just stuck but we didn’t succeed to open it… thankfully there’s the other one in the living-room.

  • "Beautiful cottage."

Everything we needed was there (including hair dryer), where you’d expect it to be. Very easy to quickly unpack and get dinner sorted within an hour of arriving with all the utensils at hand. Very clean throughout and great shower water pressure. Lots of clothes storage. Beautiful part of the country and only 20 minute light walk to Drumnadrochit means everything close by for days out. Great central location for travel further afield too.

  • "We stayed for 2 weeks in the Dunollie house."

Everything was top cleaned and well prepared (wood burner with wood and paper ready to go). But then we noticed, that neither in the conservatory nor in the living room , was there absolutely no window that you can open. Windows and door are sealed. So when you start the fire, there is no way in the morning , to get fresh air in those rooms. You have to open the main entrance or the window in the dining room. No connection between the Byre and Dunollie house. So for a party with more than 4 you have to step out of the Byre and get around into Dunollie house. That couldn't be seen from the pictures. Very nice welcome with champagne and goodies.

Wonderful cottage and location, facilities are excellent, everything you need is in the cottage. The only thing I can fault is the new gate on the entrance, we found it difficult to turn the car onto the drive as the track to the cottage is very narrow. Wonderful stay as always

  • "We absolutely loved our week at Dunollie House, the grounds were immaculate and everything was very well maintained inside and out."

In reality Dunollie House is even more beautiful and the grounds much larger than the photos show. Everything there is spotlessly clean, very cosy, beautifully furnished and we had absolutely everything we needed there. Actually a perfect place to stay and feel at home, but of course also a good location to explore the area and go on trips. The access road is not the widest, but it is not a problem as long as you are careful - we made it with the big rental car and driving on the "other" side without any damage.

I was particularly pleased with the lovel kitchen which was equipped with everything needed to cook meals when eating in. The only thing we found a little disappointing was the fact we did not have access to the byre which we thought our friend might have been able to make use of the bathroom in there making things a little more private. All in all though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hestitate to recommend it to friends and fsmily.

The house is perfectly located and there are 1000 things to do (castles, hikes, cities...). The gentle whisper of the river. The children were delighted. • "Dunollie House is the finest Sykes Cottage we have ever stayed in."

Every effort has been made to equip and maintain the house and garden to the highest possible standards. We loved this place. Visitors requiring three bedrooms should note that Dunollie is actually two self-contained houses, Dunollie and The Byre, with separate key safe access to each house. We loved having our own separate bolt hole away from the children, but those with younger children may need to make different arrangements. Nonetheless, Dunollie is a magical place and we couldn’t have been more impressed with the house and garden, reception on arrival and the friendliness of staff on our departure. Thank you for a fabulous holiday in a beautiful location.
