  • "What a absolutely stunning lodge, positioned beautifully within Limefitt."

The scenery through the patio windows, the decor and peaceful homely atmosphere throughout. It could perhaps do with a lick of paint and new dining chairs for the more particular guest but honestly we didn't mind and found it both modern and charming. Nothing has been over looked by the owners, everything you could possibly need is there for your convenience from dog bowl to champagne bucket! The views from the veranda on that comfy patio set really was a cherry on the cake just breathtaking. We had such a relaxing stay and can't wait to come back. We will definitely book this lodge whenever possible. Thank you.

We had lots of issues, the heating did not work and the bedding didn’t really fit the main bed properly. Very tired decor, carpets needed a good clean and overall not the standard that was advertised.

The tree needs cutting back a bit also as currently the branches knock on the roof of the bedroom when it’s windy during the night

  • "Great lodge."

Comfortable, warm, clean and spacious with just about everything you need and centrally located between the Haybarn and office/shop. Been here several times before and will come back again soon. Owners have made some changes since we last stayed, like non slip decking by the door, nice touch. I'm afraid I have to agree with a previous review though in that the mattress is incredibly hard. The bed is too high aswell for my liking. The washer dryer needs attention though as the dryer doesn't work and it left a puddle of water on the floor. Minor niggles really. I would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone wanting to stay at Limefitt.

Thank you for your kind comments, we are so pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay. We take all comments on board, and will ask our Maintenance team to take a look into the issue with the dryer. We hope to welcome you again. The Lake District Lodge Holidays Owner Relations Team. The first visit was before Covid and we had major problems from the boiler failing and noted several things that were broken, not working, missing. We assumed that by the time we returned on this visit that at least some of the issues highlighted previously would have been addressed. To our dismay NOTHING as been addressed and we still had to reset the boiler EVERY DAY of our stay. Despite this, we were contemplating on returning next year but shockingly the price to stay next year in the same lodge has doubled in price. Therefore, we have booked a much bigger and better maintained lodge for less than the price of this one.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you continued to have problems with the boiler. This has been passed to our maintenance team who will look into this further. Had you contacted us during your stay, we would have sent a member of our team down to look into the issues for you. We are sorry you feel you could not do this. We do hope you will return to us and maybe visit one of the other lodges on our portfolio. Property Owner

  • "We would stay at Limefitt again, this was our second time but this lodge was a disappointment."

Hopefully the boiler will have been sorted out, we had to reset it every morning to get hot water and have the heating on. There is a washer dryer but even with the instruction leaflet we couldn’t get the drying part to work which is probably why the blurb says it has a washing machine. The dishwasher needs salt and rinse aid, but we were surprised that these were not provided, totally get you have to bring dish washer tablets from home. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pans etc. Spare bin bags were not left so take more of those. Be careful with the bank of switches on the kitchen wall, the switch for the fridge freezer is there and it is easy to switch it off in error. If you do need to call LDH, they are good at arranging for wardens, engineers to visit, the out of hours number given to us on the email we received was for the warden at Whitecross Bay, no doubt this was a computer error when Skyes Cottages merged with LDH. The best thing about this lodge is that there is tool kit is the bottom drawer!

It was spotless on arrival & had all of the amenities we could have wanted throughout the stay. The heating was super toasty at night time and the large decking area outside allowed us to sit in the fresh air with a morning coffee whilst enjoying the gorgeous countryside views. Windermere was close by for a gander to the lake and shops whilst the other lakes were only a 20-40 minute drive away which kept us busy during our 7 day stay! I would recommend this lodge to everyone and we cannot wait to return! What did you enjoy most about your stay? The size of the lodge and it?s cleanliness. The location too. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Day out in Windermere or Keswick is highly recommended.

  • "This is our second visit to Limefitt Park but our first in Troutbeck Retreat Lodge."

Upon arriving on Monday, everything about the lodge was fab, and hubby, me, 2 kids, and a dog, settled in for the week. On Tuesday morning we noticed that the cabin was cold and we just assumed the heating was on a timer and switched off for the night. The thermostat was raised, and the heating seemed to work although I noticed the water for the shower wasn't very hot. Wednesday morning, the boiler wasn't on, Low Pressure on the dial, which explains why it was off and lights flashing. By the evening time, we decided to call the number shown in the manual and my hubby got through to a lovely maintenance man from 'Lake district Lodge Holidays'. He came out and had a look, but then told us that because the lodge was 'privately owned' he couldn't do anything. So, he told us to phone another number which was a different company, but surprisingly it rang his phone. He was unaware that this other number had been patched through to his phone. So then he thought it best to go and find the Park Manager which he did and brought him back to the lodge. The Park manager reiterated the same issue that he couldn't do anything because the Lodge is privately owned. The boiler was reset and even though the pressure was still low, it worked again. Thursday morning, lodge freezing, now NO water, no boiler. My hubby thought best to go to the reception at the Park to report No Water. The person on reception explained that since the lodge was privately owned there wasn't anything she could do. At this point, my hubby was not happy. All he wanted to hear was an apology for the inconvenience and that someone would be looking into the problem. But all he got was 'it's not our problem' and I quote 'what do you want me to do about it'! Then there was a conversation about the 'red tape'. So, there is the privately owned Lodge, that sits on a holiday park owned by Parkdean Resorts, which apparently has now been bought over by Sykes Cottages, and the privately owned Lodge is rented out by Lake District Lodge Holidays who is now the company to report the fact there is no water on a site that belongs to Parkdean Resorts, who's staff are on-site but don't help out if you happen to be a customer of a privately owned lodge. As it turns out, there was in fact a burst water main on-site that affected the whole park, which I was eventually notified of by Lake District Lodge Holidays, even though it was a Parkdean Resort problem to resolve. In reference to this Lodge, It should be made very clear to the customer on the first day of a holiday, that any issues of any kind must be referred to Lake District Lodge Holidays only. Unfortunately, we only received that message on Thursday. It was a very stressful holiday for us but a burst water main could happen at any time and is not really the fault of anyone so we are looking at it as bad luck, but it could have been handled better by Parkdean staff. • "A Lovely lodge."

Everything you needs is at hand. Had a small problem with the tv when we arrived. I emailed the contact email and within 10 minutes we had a very friendly member of site staff to come and sort the problem. I was kept informed of any information regarding the problem all weekend due to it being a problem in the south lakes area. It was my 3rd stay at troutbeck retreat and I know there will definitely be more visits. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Comfort. Just like home from home. But with better views. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Ambleside

  • "We experienced minor poor maintenance problems during our stay which need to be rectified to improve our rating."

These are :- Renew the toaster and microwave. Both are old and in poor condition. Repair the boiler as the hot water at the showers does not get hot and fluctuates between warm and cold and the electric fire in the lounge needs repairing as it constantly cuts out ! If these faults are rectified my ratings would have been good. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Seeing the lake district scenery covered in snow from inside the pub having lunch. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Steamer and train trip from Bownes to Haverthwaite

  • "This was the 2nd time staying at this lodge and everything was good, but the only thing I will complain about was that the pub onsite (Haybarn Inn) was shut at 9pm on a Saturday night."

My partner and I booked this lodge because of the convenience of there being an onsite pub and for it to be closed so early with no notice was extremely disappointing. We tried to contact customer services about it and it resulted in us speaking to the warden who promised us we would get a phone call the next day from someone else. That call never happened. Very disappointing. We paid full price for the lodge so I would have expected better service on this as a returning customer. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The lodge was lovely and great location What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Walking in the area

There was plenty of room for 2 energetic children and an enthusiastic labrador though they spent most of the time in the well maintained park and football pitch. It had a very welcoming family feel and the onsite pub was more than accommodating - food good. Central to lots of places to visit and walks everywhere! We will definitely be back. • "Troutbeck retreat is a very quiet, clean and beautiful park."

The kids loved playing in the beautiful shallow river. The lodge was of a high standard very cosy, clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. However we had a very poor experience when we visited the Haybarn on the Saturday evening, service was terrible. We waited an hour on food & my husband couldn't eat his when it did come it was so over cooked. So we didn't return the rest of the week. There is some lovely places to eat in Bowness though. For us with 2 young kids there was not enough to keep us entertained for a week but would be a lovely couples or group holiday. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The lovely views around the park What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? The lakeside zoo & the Lowwood water sports centre were both excellent days out

Boat trip from Bowness to Ambleside, trip into the town and then catching the boat back.

  • "We stayed in Troutbeck Retreat for a week in June."

The lodge was very comfortable with the lounge & kitchen areas especially well laid out & offering plenty of space for the two of us. Over the years we have taken many lodge holidays throughout the UK & Troutbeck would score somewhere in the middle of 1 - 10 for us. We did have a couple of issues with facilities - having said that, Lake District Lodge Holidays dealt promptly & fairly to resolve this. We would therefore not hesitate to book with the company again. Limefitt Park is a very quiet site a couple of miles out of Windermere town - lovely area with wonderful scenery & walking. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The scenery, the lake, great walking, Windermere town, Bowness, Kendal ....... Ms Kim WainmanJan 2016

  • "We stayed at Troutbeck retreat midweek on the 4th Jan, it was a lovely break after Christmas and the new year."

We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of space in the lodge! The photos are very deceiving and I personally think they make the rooms look a lot smaller than they actually are. The lodge was spotless, everything clean and away in the correct places. We were also very surprised to see that the lodge had everything you could imagine you need! Even a garlic crusher! It was very useful to have many items available in the kitchen and cleaning items. The only problem we noticed was with the fridge in the lodge, it kept freezing our food so unfortunately the food we bought before our stay was ruined and had to be thrown. Other than that it was fantastic and we are looking forward to booking a lodge holiday again.

    Miss Becky WilliamsJan 2016

  • "Very pleased with the lodge."

Clean, comfortable, nicely furnished. The only complaint we have is that on the morning we were due to leave we were ready to set off for long journey back home by 8.00am but the site manager in the little shop did not open until 9.00am so we were left hanging around, wasting what we felt was good journey time. Surely on a changeover day (Friday in our case) they could open up by 8.00am ready for people to leave early. What did you enjoy most about your stay? • "Troutbeck retreat is stunning (the pictures online do not do it full justice), it is luxurious yet still homely and welcoming."

The lounge is spacious, with plenty of comfy seating, the kitchen is well equipped (although instructions for oven would be handy). The main bedroom has a very comfortable bed with a fantastic en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom is well spaced, with good sized single beds. The family bathroom is also superb. There are also lovely little touches such as the fleece blankets on the sofa, the dining table set elegantly for dinner and the toiletries in the bathrooms. Limefitt Park is also great; nice play park, large dog walking area, games area with football pitch and badminton nets and a pub - The Haybarn. We ate at the Haybarn and thought the food was very nice, very family orientated and relaxed with pool table, darts, giant connect 4, sky TV with sofa area. Dogs are welcome inside. The only downside is they finish serving food at dead on 8pm, which is a real shame especially on arrival day after a long journey. And that is the only other downside to the park - it is not really near anything or anywhere else within walking distance (you can walk to the Mortal Man pub down narrow windy road, being wary of cars flying down). There are however some nice walks from the park and it is very scenic, peaceful and quiet. We very much enjoyed are stay and would highly recommend Troutbeck retreat. The only downfall was I was suffering from terrible morning sickness so couldn't take advantage of the all the long walks. We did manage a few walks and loved every minute of it. Will definitely be returning some time in the future and we would definitely recommend to our friends and family. What did you enjoy most about your stay?
