  • "What a beautiful cottage this is, immaculately kept and in a stunning location, everything you need for a great stay in the lakes, lovely secure garden for the dogs, a great beach just 10 minute drive away."

  • "Lovely, warm and spacious property."

    All modern furnishings and very clean. Enclosed garden which was safe for the dog with views over the estuary. Nice and peaceful to sit in. This cottage is in a good location for exploring both the coastline and the the western lakes. There is a market town nearby with a few shops and pubs that serve good food. The cottage owners and local publicans were really friendly. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week here.

  • "When booking holidays I always worry that the accommodation isn’t as good as stated but no worries here, Brookside was comfortable, extremely clean and had everything you could possibly need and more."

    We genuinely love everything about the house, and Marie and Mark are the most thoughtful hosts. All the little touches from fresh flowers, coffee/tea/milk and logs for the fire were very much appreciated. The house has everything you might possibly need for your stay and the kitchen is perfectly equipped for all your needs.   • "Wow … we spent a glorious week here 3rd July and I have to say this cottage wants for nothing ."

    The owners have thought of everything and the beds are so comfortable ., the cottage was immaculately clean . Walking in to lovely flowers and milk for our first cuppa with a complimentary biscuit. The scenery was perfect , even the sheep popping there heads up to kitchen window was so cute . We had swallows nesting above the front door , which was an added bonus to watch . Our dogs loved the secure garden … we will definitely be booking again

  • "A delightful stay in a cosy dog friendly cottage that is well equipped."

    Nice to see beautiful flowers on the table on arrival as well as a dog bowl full of fresh water. We had a lovely week with visits to the Ravenglass narrow gauge railway, a walk to Stanley Ghyll Waterfall and a boat trip on Lake Coniston. We also had a lovely walks at Roanhead beach that the friendly neighbours told us about. Had some lovely meals in the beer garden at The Greyhound Inn in Grizebeck. The cottage is a great base for exploring the lakes with a nice enclosed garden (secure for dogs) which we sat in whilst watching the swallows building their nest. Thank you

  • "We had a lovely week at Brookside Cottage."

    The property was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. The owner clearly considers who will be staying, we took our dog and the water bowl was left out filled with water ready for Lucy's arrival. The flowers on the table, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were a nice touch too. The cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the Cumbrian countryside with stunning walks from the door or just a short drive away. We would definitely use the cottage again.

    Spotlessly clean and well maintained. For the cooler evenings there was a wood burner with fire lighters and logs provided. Even some throws/blankets to curl up in on the sofas. Would definitely recommend and return to if in the area again. Wonderful views all around as well.

  • "Brookside in a beautiful hidden gem, very dog friendly our dogs loved it."

    It was spotless and everything you needed even flowers on the table. Plenty of parking space the drive up to the cottage is a bit narrow for a large car, but we didn't scratch the car, had a bit of trouble with the TV but was quickly sorted. we loved Brookside, hope to visit again next year.

  • "We had such a lovely week staying at Brookside."

    We were very lucky with beautiful sunshine throughout the week, the garden is a lovely little sun trap in the afternoon and evening. From the moment we opened the gate to Brookside we knew we had picked the perfect cottage. A lovely enclosed garden for our dog with nice seating area to enjoy the sunshine with a glass of wine. We were welcomed with flowers, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Our dog was welcomed with a fresh bowl of water (just what she needed after travelling) and lots of yummy treats. The cottage itself was such a lovely clean, spacious home for us all. We loved the kitchen! It was a great location for the tourist spots (not too far to drive). Some off the places we visited were Coniston Lakes, Lakeland Motor Museum, Ulverston, Lake Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere, Stanley Ghyll Waterfall. We all had a great holiday, would happily return and recommend to family and friends.

  • "We felt right at home from the moment we arrived at Brookside."

    The cottage was so welcoming and it is clear to see that the owners want their guests to fully enjoy all aspects of it. The kitchen / dinner is thoughtfully laid out and very well appointed. The bedrooms are no different and the beds so comfortable. The cottage is in an ideal location for travelling round and exploring all of the Southern Lakes and coastline; the views all around are simply glorious and the local hostelry’s are very good. Not one bad thing to say and would highly recommend staying at the cottage.

  • "A lovely stay at Brookside, it's is a great location to visit the southern lakes."

    We had a nice meal at the local pub in Grizebeck, and it's very dog friendly. The beach at Bardsea was good for dog walks and other dog friendly trips we had were to Furness Abbey, Ravenglass railway & the launch on Coniston lake. The house is lovely, very well appointed and the garden is a suntrap.

  • "From the moment we arrived we felt at home."

    The cottage is warm and welcoming and has been well thought about for the comfort of guests. We had a lovely stay very relaxing especially after long days walking and exploring the lake district. The cottage was very clean and tidy, we loved the cooking our meals in kitchen. Spending cold evenings with the log fire lit in the lounge and watching the stars from the bedroom. The location is perfect, even being close to a busy road it's tucked back and extremely quiet and tranquil. We would definitely recommend to anyone.

The property

Nestled on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park in the rural village of Grizebeck, rests this semi-detached cottage, Brookside.

Drive down the narrow lane to reach the white-washed cottage where you can leave your vehicle in the ample off-road parking spaces and admire the far-reaching views of Cumbria.

Stroll up the path, with lawned areas either side and furniture to bask in the sun on warm days.

Open the duck-egg door into the entrance hall, here you can kick-off your walking boots and house your jackets.

Discover the stylish kitchen/ diner, with a spacious layout and a spotlight ceiling; the designated chef can make use of the electric oven and halogen hob to rustle up mouth-watering dishes.

There is also a microwave, kettle, toaster, and dishwasher so you don't need to worry about making a mess!

Settle down at the circular dining table to enjoy meals together and why not uncork a bottle of wine and toast to your countryside hideaway?

Surrounded by mountain peaks and pretty villages is Lake Windermere, here you can tour the large lake, have an action-packed time at the Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre and revisit childhood tales at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.

GRIZEBECK

Kirkby-in-Furness 2 miles; Ulverston 6.7 miles; Coniston 10.8 miles; Windermere 19.4 miles.

Grizebeck is set on the border of the Lake District National Park with spectacular panoramic views of the Duddon Estuary, Furness Fells and the Coniston mountains. Grizebeck is set in pretty countryside and superb for those wanting to spend some time away from it all. In the village there is a pub serving local brews and evening meals , the local garage has a small shop ideal for essentials. A few minutes’ drive takes you to the village of Kirkby-in-Furness which is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station. East of Kirkby-in-Furness takes you to the market town of Ulverston, which is well known for its street markets and festivals at different times of the year. A few minutes’ drive will also take you to Broughton-in-Furness which has three pubs, Beswicks Restaurant, a bakery, two cafés, deli, butchers, Post Office and Tourist Information. Coniston is a 20 minute drive and Windermere is 25 minutes' drive away if you want to take part in some Lakeland activities. Grizebeck is ideally placed for visiting a variety of the Lake District attractions including the South Lakes Animal Park near Dalton, Dalton Castle, Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass Railway.
