  • "Fron Goch is a fabulous cottage."

It has very comfortable sitting rooms, a huge dinning table and super comfy king size beds in all the bedrooms. My husband and I stayed here for a week with our three adult children and the dog. The garden is amazing, having a family size table and chairs, a comfortable sitting area, and a fabulous wood to explore with its winding paths. We loved watching the motorbikes going past during the day and admiring the spectacular views from the decking. The drive is very steep, so to save our clutch in the car, we parked at the bottom of the drive all week with no problems. Corris is a beautiful place to stay, the craft centre is a three minute walk away and a must to visit. We’d recommend the cafe and the Corris Mine adventure. We also walked many of the beautiful trails in the area. We would like to thank the owners for a holiday to remember.

  • "We as a family had the most wonderful stay for the week commencing 29/6/23-7/7/23."

The cottage is in a beautiful location. Lovely clean and tidy on arrival. Everything we needed and more. So well equipped. So much space. My Daughter and Wife have both recently passed their test and managed the driveway with no issues, so don’t be put off by that. Plenty of room for cars to park in the lay-by. It was just the most beautiful location with a cottage to match that. I would head back there in a heartbeat. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay.

  • "The house was spectacular set in a wonderful mountain area of north wales… and there are some amazing sceneries up there… the little area was lovely."

. I was extremely worried after booking the reviews were just awful… so here is my full honest opinion… the house is massive.. it’s beautiful and it was very clean upon arrival… people had complained about spiders and bugs ect… but the house is Rural and it comes with the territory… another one was the road people complained about noise.. I can say I didn’t hear a single vehicle the whole week unless outside and even then it wasn’t that bad… the drive way it is steep but not impossible it’s not that bad to get in and out we did it all week.. the comment about no privacy is insane Because nobody can see you in the hot tub or eating at the table outside.. the garden is steep because It is built in to the mountain… but now for my opinion… it’s wonderful it was comfy and clean ans had everything listed… the only thing it didn’t was a tumble but the owner said a new washer drier was arriving soon.. it had Xbox and tv and a beauty kitchen and lovely shower and massive rooms… a huge dinning room.. honestly you would have to live in a mansion with house help not to love it… it’s a beautiful house and the owner has done a fantastic job to make it just that… we would definitely stay again.. there was loads to do in the area and a drive away was a super market… close by really close is a steam train, Corrie craft centre, Mach loop the aircraft’s are amazing.. and if your a walker there is sooo much to do there x thanks for having us.

  • "All in all the property was very nice and as described in the advert."

We was disappointed with the cleanliness of the kitchen when we arrived. The oven was dirty as where the baking trays, also the toaster was not cleaned from the previous tenants. We could not get the oven to work and this might have tripped the electricity. We called the maintenance man who quickly told me where the fuse box was and got us up and running again very soon. To be fair, the rest of the house was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for good walks and site seeing. It would be helpful to advise people the local shops are on short opening times and not very big. I would consider staying again if the kitchen was garrenteed to be clean when we arrive. The hot tub was a winner.

  • "Washing machine is broken."

Range cooker only one oven works and the grill ovens door doesn't stay shut when on. Only Netflix and catch up TV. No normal TV is a big deal. No basic drying like indoor air dryer, washing baskets or tumble dryer. You need to hire a new cleaner. House is very dirty. Loads of spiders and spider webs. Mould on window frames and bath seals. Needs bleaching. Kitchen sink was dirty. Road is noisy and has cars, lorrys and motorbikes using it all night long. No privacy when using hot tub everyone on the road can see you. Plus side:- amazing views, good sized rooms and nicely placed.

  • "We stayed a week here in April and enjoyed it so much we came again."

We found the property perfectly clean and a very nice welcome pack provided. All rooms are well furnished and comfortable, with everyone saying how comfortable the beds were. It has been observed elsewhere that the rooms at the back don't get too much light and the garden is sometimes a challenge. Whilst true, I don't feel it detracts from the property in any way. The description of the property made this clear and is very honest. Whilst it is on the main road, traffic was not heavy and the house is well insulated. I agree that the drive is challenging, I had no problems going in either way, although I drive an electric car which is so much easier than a manual car. Special kudos for the charger by the way. Overall, an excellent stay all round.

  • "We won't use Sykes again."

After booking and paying for our stay we had it shortened without reference by an hour on arrival. We also received an email from Sykes the morning before our holiday ended instructing us to leave the property clean and tidy. We were still on holiday. Poor, poor customer service. The property was dirty when we arrived. Carpets, furniture and kitchen surfaces weren't clean and there was so much dust on the oven extractor fan that we could draw in it. There was a woman's hair in our bed and unspecified hairs in the bath. Frankly, the standard of cleanliness throughout was poor and especially given the price we paid for a week's stay. The "welcome pack" was non-existent. Literally, there was nothing there. We didn't even have access to washing-up liquid and had to go out and buy our own. The property is a good size and the bed we used was comfortable (other than the "hair" issue). Overall the facilities are good and the garden perfectly adequate. We took our two dogs with us and had to supervise them in the garden given the slope at the back and the road to the front. Driving into and out of the property is challenging given the speed of traffic, the tight access turn and the pronounced incline up the drive.

  • "Generally we had a lovely week here - the positives are the views from the front and garden are beautiful, the size of the house was great for a family and it has lots character without being creepy!"

Also the new Xbox, Disney+ and Netflix access in both rooms was enjoyed and appreciated in the evenings and the Wifi was pretty good throughout the whole property. The house gets cosy really quickly and has log burners if needed too. The beds are large, lovely and comfy and we appreciated the milk, bread, eggs and bacon on arrival as well as a few logs and kindling. However, there are some important negatives to mention… the driveway is extremely steep (both our cars scraped on the front coming up and down all week) and it’s also is fairly narrow - none of which is described in the info. Also, there is no way 4-5 cars could comfortably park on the drive as is described - they would have to be the smallest of cars and parked nose to tail and one “space” is so awkward and basically unusable as is sloped even further on uneven ground to the right side of the house. So realistically, ok for parking two cars and confident drivers needed! The instructions sent on where to get the keys to enter the house are wrong - this should be updated. Again, not described in the info, the house is on a busy main road with bends both ways with no pedestrian path or verge either side to safely walk to or from the village which could be difficult with young children or disabled visitors as there’s constant traffic using this road with vehicles all sizes. The garden is very steep and this was expected as stated in the description already, but it says “may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility” - this should be changed to NOT suitable as would be impossible to access outside and the decking for anyone with any mobility issues. Also what isn’t mentioned is the front garden/driveway wall has a very low railing/barrier with wide gaps with 9ft sheer drop into the main road - so potentially small dogs could easily get through this, large dogs could easily jump this and children could easily fall over this - so no way could you just let your dogs and kids outside to play unsupervised at any time. There is a lack of kitchen bits - ie. tiny frying pan for a family house, no oven gloves, no instructions on using the oven (figured it out eventually), only 2 oven trays found. Very little natural light in the rear rooms - half the house. We found the local pub to be very unfriendly and rude - we checked their food serving times and arrived an hour before they stopped serving and was told they’d decided to stop food early that day so couldn’t accommodate us! We didn’t bother trying again and found the best place in Dolgellau - The Gatehouse Steakhouse - only 20 min drive away. The front door needs a secondary lock or bolt for the inside to feel more secure. The kitchen fridge is definitely on the blink where some days it partially froze the milk and other days wasn’t keeping stuff cold enough. The chest freezer outside needs defrosting and cleaning badly. The en-suite shower mentioned in the description isn’t really accurate - it’s literally an electric shower in the corner bedroom with a folding screen - although a nice shower, it’s a bit misleading to describe this as an actual en-suite. Also the “cloakroom” described - is an old outside toilet that’s kind of been joined to the house via a lean-to. It has green mould/algae growing in spots and isn’t what I was expecting. The dishwasher was fully empty of any salt and rinse aid and we couldn’t find these anywhere to add and should be kept topped up for guests use as the dishwasher needs these to clean effectively. The house is desperate for a thorough deep clean throughout. It was clean to a very basic level but not the standard we were expecting given the price to rent this house. The “drying room” mentioned is essentially a lean-to joined to the rear of the house - again not clean, spiders and smelly so we avoided using it and wouldn’t want my washing to smell of dampness. Finally - the downstairs of the house does smell quite offensively at times. Due to the location and lack of light, there is a consistent damp/heavy smell in the kitchen area as connects to the lean-to and “cloakroom” which was once outside and there’s a drain cover directly outside the kitchen door which also adds to the smell and additionally where dogs have stayed and the place hasn’t been throughly cleaned, it does smell doggy in places at times too. Despite all of the above, we did enjoy our holiday here but feel for the high price to stay here, the cleaning standards need to be drastically improved and description of parking situation should be made much much clearer.

  • "Loved this cottage - very spacious and comfortable for family of 5 plus dog."

Corris is beautiful with friendly pub, lovely local shop and lots to do right on the doorstep. Outdoor seating area with views up the valley is a big plus. Only slight downside was that the house is situated on a busy main road down the valley but quieter at night and didn’t prevent us from sleeping even on the front of the house. Big plus was the electric car charge point. Thanks for a lovely holiday!

  • "The property itself is great although it is on a busy road, which isn't mentioned anywhere in the details, this may not suit some people."

The driveway probably should be mentioned as it is steep and unless you're extremely confident and have a car powerful enough it could give some people issues. Those with a little mechanical sympathy for their clutch will find it easier to enter forwards and reverse out back to the bins before pulling out onto the main road forwards. I doubt those driving electric cars would have any issues. The cleaning wasn't perfect but there is a vacuum and cleaning products so not an issue for us really. And some areas cod do with a lick of paint. The user id and/or password didn't work for the XBOX, maybe needs resetting or something? One positive not mentioned in the details is that the house sits on the mach loop, always nice to see the planes in the valleys. Maybe could be improved by supplying something to play music on, Bluetooth system or something like that? The key collection details mention cleaning the keys from a key safe next to the front door, when they are actually next to the back door, this could cause confusion for some on arrival. All in all a great property in a good location with overall good facilities and very comfy beds.

  • "The house needs a deep clean."

There were cobwebs on the walls and ceilings in every room, some with large living spiders. There was a lot of dust, including on surfaces of furniture and lampshades. The kitchen, hall and bathroom floors were dirty. There is only one bathroom. There is a separate downstairs toilet in an outhouse. For a four bedroom house which sleeps eight this is not enough. The house is also on a very busy road which has lots of traffic through the night. The so called driveway is so steep and difficult to manoeuvre, given its angle and the fact it is straight off the busy road. The garden is on a steep slope, making it unusable, other than the decking area to the side of the house. It should be noted, however, that the decking is not accessed direct from the house, you have to come out of the house and climb some steep steps to get to it, which is not ideal if you have difficulty walking.

Hi Kevin, I'm really sorry your holiday was not as expected. If it was an unclean house- this is inexcusable-and we can talk about a partial refund. We have made sure the description in the advert is accurate though: that it is a raised terrace which is what gives it the great views and the garden is steep with trails, which you will struggle with if you have limited mobility or are very young. We will look into the cleaning for you. Apologies again Property Owner
