  • "The house was quirky!"

Spaces for a large party to gather but also spaces to be apart and quiet. Well placed to walk down to the town (rather an uphill return!) But overall house a but shabby: cobwebs, curtains not fully on rails, one toilet not flushing properly, one toilet seat cracked, kitchen not well equipped (we had to buy kitchen and toilet cleaner, bin bags, washing up liquid and dishwasher tabs, as well as a frying pan big enough for our party)

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad that you liked the house. Had we been made aware of any issues during your stay, we would have done our very best to get them sorted whilst you were at the property. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property with a lot of character and plenty of space."

It would helpful if instructions could be provided for rubbish and recycling disposal - there was none - only a single small bin with no further bags etc. More towels would be appreciated. Otherwise a lovely property in a very convenient location.

  • "Although the accommodation was clean on the surface (work surfaces/bedding/towels), there were many areas which haven't been cleaned for a long time and have huge amounts of cobwebs on them (fireplaces/windows/corners of rooms/outside porch)."

The terrace was also unswept and there were several pieces of rubbish laying around here and in the driveway. Muesli and large crumbs were also on the floor of the fireplace in the kitchen. Generally speaking, the house is showing some larger signs of neglect. The paint is peeling off the windows and comes off when opening and closing the windows - behind the shutter in the piano room the plaster is also coming off. The small stand and the table in the piano room both need fixing. The cutlery draw and the cupbaords in the kitchen are dirty and stuffed full of unneccessary items and there is hardly any room to store food because of this. Several windows cannot be closed properly and particularly the small window in the kitchen is a security risk because it cannot be closed at all because the handle has fallen off. We are happy to provide photos if this is required. Just to clarify - we do not count the problem we had with the electric (light in the piano room) as a problem. These things can happen and the Sykes employees we spoke to were fantastic and solved the problem (together with the owner?) quickly.

Thank you so much for taking the time to complete your feedback. A member of our quality assurance team visited Clarence Grey House on receipt of your review and found the general cleanliness of the property to be good, it was agreed that areas of the garden however were in need of some attention. Following your visit the owner of the property visited and has confirmed that all windows have been checked and all work and close perfectly well. The owner has also recently sourced a new housekeeping team who have carried out a deep clean throughout the property to ensure cleanliness is of the standard expected. We are in regular discussions with the owner and the housekeeping team to ensure improvements continue to be made at Clarence Grey so that all visitors have the best holiday experience. This is to include inside and outside of the property. Property Owner
