Splitting a route

Hi Paul I have plotted a route that has a lot more than 500 waypoints and obviously I need to split it into 3 parts or more to further tweak it and download to GPS. Reducing the number of waypoints is not really an option for me as it is a 300 mile+ route, so I am wondering what is the best way to split it please.

Thanks

There may be tools out there to help you but we generally just use a text editor (so vi or emacs in our case as we're Linux users but Windows has notepad doesn't it and I'm sure Apple have something similar).
