Hills walked:
Whernside (Marilyn, Hewitt, Nuttall, HuMP, Clem, County Top - Administrative, County Top - Historic, County Top - Current County and Unitary Authority, Sim, and Tump)
Date started:05/08/2010
Distance:14.0 km or 8.7 miles
Ascent:494m or 1621ft
Descent:496m or 1627ft
Start OSGB:SD766793
Time taken:5:15
Naismith:3:37

The mighty Ribblehead viaduct is my favourite starting point for getting up Whernside. Far better than from the west side (IMO, YMMV etc). And so we set off one August day.

It was a pretty straightforward loop, as you can see from the map below:

Whernside Trig Point

The only amusement was that Dave's boot fell apart but between us we had a small roll of gaffer tape and some cable ties so he was able to make a passable repair!

Who on earth carries gaffer tape and cable ties onto the mountains? Obviously someone VERY well prepared....
