A few days away in The Lakes on my own. The plan was to drive up Monday morning and tick off a quick fell, all was going well before the inevitable 1 hour delay on the M6 (for no discernible reason). I arrived slightly later than I wanted but still plenty of time to nip up High Rigg. Having parked at the church in St Johns in the Vale I was up on High Rigg in just under 20 minutes (I reckon you could do it in 15) which for me makes it the most accessible of Wainwrights.

With storm Ashley having blown through 24 hours before it was still a bit blowy but surprisingly warm and the late afternoon sun really brought out the colours of Autumn on the fells. There were a few boggy bits to navigate but there are multiple paths so you never get stuck.

Does this count as a tarn?
