Starting with a long and interesting drive round from Dockray to Sandwick Bay via Pooley Bridge we set off towards Martindale. Skirting the side of the fell it was an easy walk although rather wet through the bracken and the strong winds blew in a constant stream of showers. The final stretch up to the pike is quite dramatic and another heavy shower blew in as we reached the top although it eased enough for us to enjoy our butties. The descent straight down the nose of the fell was rather steep as we made our way back to the church at Martindale.

Easy stroll back to Sandwick Bay where the girls had a fantastic swim, great spot for wild swimming at a little beach with a picnic bench.
