Another slightly grim day in mid August. We parked at the Brothers Water car park and I did the steep climb straight up the nose of Hartsop Dodd with our ageing terrier while the girls went for a swim.

Very steep on the way up needing hands in places. I came down the flank of the hill which was equally steep in places with a path that wasn't always clear. Nice pint in the White Lion in Patterdale afterwards.

Not a classic day out but another Wainwright in the bag!

Following the steep path along the wall before turning left more more steepness!

Halfway up looking back towards Ullswater and Glenridding

Sparky surveying Brothers Water (and looking for sheep)

Final pull to the top.

Summit cairn looking back towards Ullswater. Is that the sun?

Interesting descent!

Brothers Water and surrounding Fells

Hartsop Dodd. All of it!
