The diminutive but rather fine Loughrigg Fell on the outskirts of Ambleside is a superb vantage point for the surrounding fells and has always been a favourite of ours which is probably why we've now got great little three walks to it from different starting points:
Loughrigg Fell trig point
Loughrigg Fell from Rydal - probably the classic route, this circuit gets you up above Rydal Water very quickly with a chance to visit Rydal Cave before making your way along Loughrigg Terrace with its views over Grasmere. From there you make your way to the summit before continuing an anti-clockwise circuit back to Rydal.
Loughrigg Fell from Ambleside - this route from Ambleside is largely a variation in the Rydal walk in reverse but extended east so you can start and end at Ambleside which is handy if you're based there for your holiday.
WalkLakes recognises that hill walking, or walking in the mountains, is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death.
