Winter Conditions Advice From the Met Office

The Met Office have put online this excellent video on planning for winter conditions. In the light of recent fatalities in mountain areas this season it's advice well worth us all reviewing before we next take to the hills.

Thanks to Wasdale MRT for the "heads up" on this one. Writing on their Facebook page yesterday they wrote:

The fells are in full winter condition at present. It is essential that you carry an ice axe and crampons and be able to use them if you venture out (along with all other essential gear). Cant believe how many people that were on Scafell Pike today without even basic equipment. Shocking!!!!

WalkLakes recognises that hill walking, or walking in the mountains, is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death.
Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
