We've just updated the four layers which provide 1:250K (the Ordnance Survey "road atlas" style mapping) and what the Ordnance Survey describe as "MiniScale" mapping (essentially only major roads and conurbations) to the latest releases, which is June 2014 and January 2015 respectively.

What does this mean? Well, it's been a couple of years since our last major update and there's always changes happening in the UK road network. Take Edinburgh for example where they're building the new Forth Road Bridge. Here's the 1:250K layer for that area. On the left is the old, on the right the new:

One consequence of this change is we've had to purge our tile cache so you may find that it's a bit slow to search tiles from the BigV server for a day or so, but it'll be worth it we think.

WalkLakes recognises that hill walking, or walking in the mountains, is an activity with a danger of personal injury or death.
Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
