We've just pushed to live another upgrade to our mapping app which adds a new layer "Photos". This is currently only available to supporters to thank you for your generous help in keeping the site going and especially the mapping.

The layer will show you the location of any photos taken at each location which have been uploaded to Geograph® Britain and Ireland. We find the photos on Geograph very useful when planning new walks and it's the closest thing you'll get to Google StreetView when you're out walking.

As before I've put online a little video to show it to you. The image quality is a bit poor and my audio is the usual high quality  but you'll get the idea.

Anyway we hope you'll find this as useful as we do when planning walks.

At the suggestion of the admins at Geograph I have made the popup show the most recent photos first and only show at most nine photos. If there are more than nine at a location a "View more ..." link will take you to a page on Geograph showing all of them.

I've also added the photographer's name to the text you are shown when you hover over the thumbnails.

(You may have to do a shift-reload to get this all to work.)

Excellent addition to the site, Paul. - Should definitely come in handy!

Regards, Mike.
