A walk taking in four Wainwright's Raven Crag, High Seat, High Tove and Armboth Fell. I start at the impressive Thirlmere Dam built at the end of the 19th century. A steep incline up through woods takes me to Raven Crag with its impressive viewing platform and superb views along the length of Thirlmere and across to Skiddaw and Blencathra. The forest track is followed before I head across the fellside up to High Seat. From High Seat there is a mostly paved path that took me to High Tove and the bog hopping returns on the way to Armbroth Fell which has good retrospective views of the route back to High Tove and High Seat. I dropped back down to the dam road via Fisher Gill passing the balanced rock that Wainwright mentions. From Armboth I followed the road back to the start. A good day made even more pleasant by the hard work of the carpenters of Raven Crag and the stone layers of High Seat. Your walk description from Raven Crag to Armboth Fell is helpful, and the balanced rock at Fisher Gill catches my interest.

Thanks Derek, yes the balanced rock isn’t far from the road either so could be visited easily
