Walking down the road to Stonethwaite I head along the Cumbria Way for a short while before the path takes me to the foot of Eagle Crag. A steep up follows to the obvious gap and then an airy zig zag which is moderately exposed takes me onto the summit. The ridge line is followed to Sergeant’s Crag and there are good views all around of Langstrath, Borrowdale and the surrounding hills. Leaving Sergeant’s Crag I head for Long Crag and then curve around the head of Greenup to reach Greenup Edge. I decide to do a there and back to Ullscarf but unfortunately the top had cloud on it so it will be a return visit. Heading back down Greenup I walk past the imposing Lining Crag and enjoy the sound of the waterfalls of Greenup Gill.
