Hills walked:
Black Fell (Wainwright, Birkett, HuMP, Clem, Fellranger, Synge, and Tump)
Date started:01/02/2025
Distance:8.8 km or 5.4 miles
Ascent:324m or 1063ft
Descent:323m or 1060ft
Start OSGB:SD321998
Time taken:3:45
Naismith:2:18

I started my walk at Glen Mary Bridge which gave me the opportunity of taking in the picturesque waterfalls of Tom Gill before reaching Tarn Hows. From the Tarn I followed the path round, crossing a stile at its northern point which took me to the Green Lane. From the lane I followed the track through Iron Keld plantation before leaving that and heading up the fell side to Black Fell for lunch. I also wandered over to the tower cairn south east of the main summit which, as well as being a lot quieter gave great views down to Windermere. From there I completed the round of Tarn Hows, visiting the viewpoint which had superb views of the Tarn and hills beyond.
