Starting at the National Trust car park at Glen Mary Bridge I followed the woodland path avoiding the road to Yew Tree Tarn. The weather was pretty much perfect with no wind and bright blue skies and the reflections off the tarn made me stop and admire the scene for a while. A short climb up through Harry Guards Wood took me to Uskdale Gap and then a meandering path led me to the summit. Lakeland shone in the sunshine with all the tops clear and I could look along the whole length of Coniston water. Dropping down towards Holme Ground I followed the Hodge Close road to Shepherds Bridge, diverting to visit a Scots Pine mentioned by Wainwright. Back at Shepherds Bridge I followed the footpath back to the start. If you would like to read my blog on this walk click https://jimearl6.com/a-walk-up-holme-fell/
