Starting from Coniston Village I head up into the Coppermines valley joining Church Beck near Coniston Waterfall. Leaving the river the path starts heading upwards and I stop to admire the old slate quarry buildings at Saddlestone Mill before heading on up to Low Water. It’s a sunny day and there are plenty of people around enjoying the sun at the lakeside. A final push up the zig zags takes me to Coniston Old Man with great views all around. From the Old Man I follow the ridge north to Brim Fell and then drop down to Goats Hause with Goats Water sitting in its little hollow. Another climb takes me up to my final summit, Dow Crag. I then follow another superb ridge south crossing over Buck and Brown Pikes before dropping down to the Walna Scar Road and following it back to Coniston. Another delightful day in Lakeland.
