Starting at Wanthwaite bridge take the old coach road until just past Hause well where there is a gate leading to the open fell. Climb up the hill to the summit of Clough Head. Great views from here over to the Northern Fells and down to Keswick and Derwentwater. A high level traverse then follows taking in Great Dodd, Watson’s Dodd and Stybarrow Dodd before dropping down onto the Sticks pass which joins Greenside road and is followed down to Glenridding.
