The walk up to Arnison Crag starts from the back of the Patterdale hotel. A short walk through woodland is followed by a steepish climb up to the summit. Good views of Ullswater. Walk around Trough Head and then ascend to the grassy summit of Birks. The path rising up St Sunday Crag is seen clearly from Birks and this is followed to the summit. Great views of the Helvellyn range and Fairfield. Continue along the path and drop down to Grisedale tarn following the path back down Grisedale to the start.
