Quite a slog for us duffers. We went up Carrock Fell first. There is a small track heading in the right direction at first which gives up after a while. The the ground under foot is not too damp and mostly tussock(ee) grass. Then, as people are heading for the same place, another track forms. All along the tops patches of gloop are available but mostly the high levels were ok. The descent of Great Calva was slippy and not much fun. A group of 10 people were doing a broadly similar route to us and several of them liked to include loud conversations in their itinerary. We prefer things much quieter. Lingy Hut looked clean and odour free but we could not spend any time there as 'rent a mob' turned up so we moved on.
