Parked at the Forestry Commission Hard Knott Car Park. Took the clockwise route to let the day brighten up before we were on the high ground.

Above. Don't cross the bridge and turn left stay on the forest road there is no path through the woods.

Below. The turn to go (right) up Harter first if that's your thing, we came down that way. Also gives you an idea of the condition of the 'paths'.

After squelching along another kilometre you arrive here (from the path?) on the left. The road has taken a more circuitous route but the path is grim after rain.

Anyway you have planned you route so you know you have to cross a large bog twice. Here is that large bog. There is not much in the way of deep sinky bits but there was about 1 to 2 inches of water all the way across and back (it looks like grass but its water) . So if like me you have leaky boots you will have wet feet.

Looking down on the Trig point on Harter Fell

Finally the quite narrow and steep decent off Harter Fell
