With a spare afternoon waiting to collect J's unsold submissions to the Eskdale Art 2022 these two Wainwrights were ticked off. St Bega's School have been running an Art Exhibition for many years. It is very good with lots of varied and talented artist work on display. The cake stall is without equal in the whole of Eskdale (and probably quite a few other dales as well!!). Anyway whilst we trudged round the tops , fuelled with Scone and Cake from the show they sold J's work.

Look up the Exhibition if in the area for Spring Bank Holiday.

Regarding the route, it was very straight forward. Notice again that the Open Street map summit (which I use on my App) differs from the summit on the maps used here. And on the ground there was not much in it but the other point did seem to be marginally higher.

Nice views close to the top of Whin Rigg

The broad summit slog to Illgill Head - The larger central fells remained undercover all day.

Re the summit of Illgill head, back in 2018 in my walk report The Wasdale Screes & Illgill head I talked about The Wainright summit - the large cairn & the official/map summit which was a bit indistinct but I did picture as a patch of rocky ground but measuring now on map I find them about 0.2miles apart.
