This is a fine walk on grassy paths with views over the Far Eastern Fells. From the lovely hamlet of Sadgill the path up the Gatescarth Pass is taken. At the top of the pass the path to Harter Fell branches off and as height is gained good views over to the High Street range start to open up. From the ‘third cairn’ as Wainwright describes it there is indeed a magnificent view down to Haweswater. The summit of Harter Fell is soon reached and then easy walking on grassy paths then takes you over Kentmere Pike and Shipman Knotts. A bit of a scramble is required to negotiate Wray Crag and the old cart track is then followed through Sadgill Woods back to the start.
