Made the most of a settled but freezing high pressure system over Lakeland at the start of the month to walk up Walla Crag and Bleaberry Fell from Castlerigg camping and caravan site. From the site the path follows the lane and crosses over Brockle Beck to climb to the summit of Walla Crag. Spectacular views from the Crag of a frozen Northern Lakes with the Coledale Fells, Skiddaw and Blencathra all looking magnificent. Derwentwater was flat calm. I then climbed up to Bleaberry Fell which had similar panoramic views before heading back to the campsite.
