A Christmas cracker of festive fun is set to be pulled in a Lakes winter wonderland. Schools out and parties are in at Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre on the shores of Windermere.
Sunday and Monday (22nd and 23rd December) see seasonal family action with games, performances and children's crafts designed to delight and entertain.
A turkey busting Boxing Day trek will take those wanting to combat the previous day's excesses on a beautiful guided walk around Coniston countryside, including spectacular Tarn Hows.
27th December is an extra special day. Where else could you hear about Grasmere's hunchback and the swan than in a special story walk organised by Windermere Reflections?
There's more Brockhole merriment on 27th and 29th December with a magic line-up of trickery, puppetry, music and games.
Events organiser Andrea Hills said as the year drew to a close it was great to see how large numbers had been attracted to wide-ranging activities in 2013.
She added:
We're putting the finishing touches to our events and guided walks 2014 programme and look forward to sharing some fantastic opportunities with old friends and new faces.
And if you want to do your own thing then don't forget we have lots of walks for you to try, including some gentle walks for working off the Christmas excess.
